| Zekkyou said: Should we punish Ubi for releasing a next gen version of AC4? What about BF4? And COD? Had TLOU released a year later, but on both the PS3 and PS4, no one would have batted an eye lash. Seeing as that's the case, and would have require the same small % of man power, why should it matter that they are doing it later rather than having entirely delayed the PS3 version? As i said, all this does is give new customers a chance at the old, and old ones a chance to replay. It costs relatively little, it requires perhaps a small team over a few months (small enough and profitable enough that the hiring of a small extra team can be easily justified), and helps the PS division. If porting were such a strenuous and expensive venture then Ubi wouldn't be releasing their games on the PS3, PS4, X1, 360, WiiU and PC :p No to mention, TLOU is the only game actually confirmed :/ Were Sony porting over every exclusive of the last 3 year and no working on a single other game, i could understand your constant complaints about it, but they aren't. The only other is a rumor about a game from a third party studio. |
To be fair, those next gen games you listed were announced before the PS360 version were released, so consumers could have waited a few weeks to purchase them. If they did purchase the last gen version, then they could have upgraded to the next gen version at a highly discounted price - I think $10. A better example would have been Tomb Raider which might have initiated the one-year port trend.
I understand why Sony would port one year old games, and I don't blame them for it. However, I do find it completely ridiculous. After they removed BC, they started the remastering/porting trend and other publishers followed suit. It's funny because when the first HD collection was announced, people complained while the defenders said it won't become a trend. Now I didn't mind HD collections since those were great values: numerous games in one disc with added trophy support and at a discounted price. But one year ports are horrible since they're basically the same game as last gen's version, but sold at full price. We're going to start seeing more soon.
As for the topic on hand, if the list includes indies/PSN games, then yes, 20 exclusives sounds plausible. How many of those are a must have is yet to be seen however. PS3 had a nice amount of exclusives in its first year, but the majority of them weren't even good.
