Looking at them through rose tinted glasses maybe. Or picking the worst next gen shots versus the best last gen shots. On a technical level the next gen games simply wouldn't be possible on last gen hardware without obvious downgrades.

The best of PS3 you are talking about run at 720p @ 30fps while COD: Ghosts on PS4 runs at 1080p @ 60fps. So they are not really comparable the way you are doing it.

COD: Ghosts on PS4 runs at twice the resolution and framerate and hence requires many times as much processing power. It also uses higher quality assets and has anti-aliasing. Also the game is made with the use of an engine made in 1999. It does look utterly unimpressive compared to other AAA PS4 games.

Why not? Why does it have to be an apples to apples comparison?

It seems you don't really know how much processing power is required to simply go from 720p to 1080p and 30 fps to 60 fps. There is a reason why barely any game is 1080p and 60 fps on either console.

You can't compare graphics and ignore framerate and resolution. It has to be an apples to apples comparison.
