Forums - Gaming - Square win US patent for one-button RPG battle system because complex menus are intimidating to novices - invented by FFXV co-director

Yup, and here it is in writing what I've been saying throughout the entire 7th gen; developers are butchering the RPG genre and watering it down to appeal to broader audiences.
If someone is too dense to understand a menu system, perhaps RPG isn't their genre.

You would have thought that games like Skyrim and Diablo would have proven that menu's are easily accessible to 10's of millions, Fable 3 essentially removed all Menu's and a GUI's and it wasn't a better game without them.

I love that they say that FF is too hard for "novice" players so they simplify the menues, while doing so they alienate the "harcore" players that actually buy the games go elsewhere for their enjoyment.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

When pressing a button, something awesome must happen

A for Awesome

Yeah, the mechanics themselves were fairly simplified in D3 and Skyrim but they did have traditional menu systems. Heck; Skyrim has the perk system to wrestle with, that would turn away most morons.

Everyone take note. The trolling isn't near fast enough. It took way too long for this to appear.

Sorry if you feel offended but that was my feeling in 90% of the fights in the game and some of the boss fights.

WE criticize the game cause we care about the series if people dont criticize the games square keeps shoving these type of games down our throats and no thanks, final fantasy is one of my favourite series and i dont want them to die.

No, no. Your first post wasn't criticism in any way. It was just trolling.

I do appreciate your love for the series, and I'm sure Square Enix hears you loud and clear.
