Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Gamepad losing connection

Hey Wii U owners,

Anyone esle having issues with the gamepad losing connection with the console? I've had this happen from my normal playing distance, where it used to be fine. Cut the distance to 6 feet away, still doing it. I'm not sure of my gamepad is being fully charged. The red charging light goes off after about 30 minutes. I thought when it was charged fully it turned blue in the past, but I can't remember.

I'm trying to play AC: Black Flag, but it's making it pretty frustrating to lose connection in mid combat.

Just curious if other people are experiencing this too, and if so, how you resolved it. Thanks!

Hmm, I play it on the living room and it works just fine! Maybe call Nintendo's customer service? Is it still under warranty?

Also, maybe try and resync it?

I found that having a wireless 5ghz router and copying or streaming large files to another device caused my issues.  If you do have your home network set up like this then consider changing to 2.4ghz.

Try resyncing, and unplug and replug the console. Also try to drain the pad of all battery and then charge it again. If neither works, it might be a faulty battery or something worse. Call Nintendo if it persists.

Is your outlet broken? I have a few loose outlets in my house and if you don't make sure it's plugged in correctly, it won't charge it.

If not, are you running a ton of stuff at the same time? That might make it loose signal.

If not again, I'm sorry but I can't help you.

I'll try the resynching steps, thanks! Nothing changed for the past 6 months I've been here, same wifi setup, same distance, same equipment in the room and house overall. There were a few times I zapped the gamepad from static electricity touches, but the housing should have grounded that without harm to the system.

My gamepad and Freeview TV used to randomly lose connection and drop, and I worked out it used a similar wavelength or something

Don't know, don't have a Wii U but while i'm still here can you tell me how Black Flag runs on it? :P

Black flag runs pretty smooth on ot. Id have liked to use traditional wii controls, so i could actually stab people, but its pretty good, graphics are really nice on my lg 47 "
