MLB will not give it a major boost the game doesn't even sells more then EA's NHL series. The NFL, NBA, and College Football are all more popular sports in the US even NASCAR is catching up to major league baseballs popularity. Also the best selling game in the franchise is MLB 2000 which only sold 940K and came out 15 years ago on the PS1.

BS

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10354114/harris-poll-nfl-most-popular-mlb-2nd

That poll is basically BS the only reason baseball is somewhat popular is because they have a lot of games and their stadiums hold a lot of people as far a generating revenue or tv ratings go its nowhere near 2nd place.

So baseball being more popular is BS...

because it's more popular?

ok.

Its not a system seller no matter how you want to look at it and baseball is nowhere near as popular as most people think it is.

how many consoles do you guys say would need to be moved for a game to be considered a system seller?

Over a million for sure and MLB the show is not and will never be a system seller the best selling game in the franchise came out 15 years ago on the PS1 and even that one fell short of a million units.

and that is probably the crux of what you have been argueing about for the last half hour lol    everyone has a different idea of what a system seller is,   and no one is saying itll be a cod like seller, but its still gonna be more then a few thousand.

I am Torgo, I take care of the place while the master is away.

"Hes the clown that makes the dark side fun.. Torgo!"

Ha.. i won my bet, but i wasnt around to gloat because im on a better forum!  See ya guys on Viz

It not very popular attandance is pretty much flat and so are tv ratings overall its a sport in decline both in popularity and how many people follow and play it.

For goodness sake, a bunch of us are not claiming The Show to be a huge system seller. The OP kinda went overboard with that. However, it is an undeniable fact that it will move some PS4 units.

If you're so hung up on talking about the popularity of baseball and other sports, why not start a separate thread? This thread is about PS4's upcoming games lineup vs the X1's, not baseball's popularity ratings. You're acting really silly by continuously posting the same arguments over and over again.

I highly doubt anyone will buy a PS4 just to play MLB the show its not a system seller no matter how you want to look at it and baseball as a whole is nowhere near as popular as most people think it is the only reason its somewhat popular is because the season is very long 162 games most stadiums hold over 40K people and it has no major competion from other sports during most of its season especially in late June and all of July and most of August.

I agree that these games will all help sell systems, but not because any of them are particularly big. Very few games are system sellers. The best thing a console can have is a steady stream of games, so that a game that you wouldn't buy a system solely for becomes a system seller because it pushes consumers over the edge, because they already had games on the system they were interested in. That's a great plus that PS4 has right now

I guarantee you they will. Where I live there are several people that only buy consoles to play sports games. I know several people who only play Madden, NCAA Football, and maybe CoD or GTA. That is about all there game library consists of. Anyone that wants to play a baseball game will definitely be willing to pick up a PS4 to play The Show. No one here is saying the PS4 is going to get a gigantic surge of sales from The Show, but there are people out there that will buy a console to only play sports games.

Well its you, so you doubting it says what exactly.

Its simple logic and does not get any simpler.  Anyone that wants to play a next gen MLb game HAS to play it on PS4

get it ?

Well most people are in denial about baseballs overall populartiy.  The fact is its not really that popular and its a sport on the decline.  Also I don't have to start a seperate thread baseball is probably the least favorite sport on this site all you have to do is take a quick look at the sports discussion section of this site to figure that one out.
