Forums - Gaming - Harmonix planning to bring Rockband and Dance Central back to new consoles 'with all guns blazing' - Do you care? Answer: NO

Today during a PAX East keynote address, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos teased that the Boston area studio has "grand plans" to bring the Rock Band and Dance Central franchises to the new generation of consoles, presumably the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and potentially Wii U.

He prefaced his talk this morning by saying he would not announce a Rock Band 4 or Dance Central 4 and he did not say if these games were in fact in development in any way. However, he stressed that both franchises are "near and dear" to Harmonix. He went on to say that the studio plans to bring these franchises to the "coming console cycle" "at some point" and with "guns blazing."

I never liked Rock Band that much. Then I found out you can download great music that you like from the store and play those, and I became a lot more interested in it.

Honestly, it takes up too much space and it doesn't help me learn real guitar so no thanks. I do like ubisoft's way though with rock smith but that needs more and better tracks so if its a combination of the two. Sign me up, if not, no thanks

Harmonix is still around? The last time I've heard about them was when Rock Band 3 came out!

I was surprised not to see a dance central last holiday in all honesty.

they only really need to make 1 Rock Band per gen and feed that with new songs through their store

what would be amazing is if songs dled for Rock Band were available as mp3s for your mobile devices/for just listening outside the game, but greedy music corps probably want you to buy their songs 5 or more times

I shall answer YES

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
