Forums - Gaming - Do you always feel the need to play a game yourself?

For me there's some games that I watch some gameplay of on YouTube but other than that I ignore buying the game. A recent example being Goat Simulator. I like the game idea a lot to where I kind of want to buy it but just watching someone else play it satisfies me enough and I don't feel like I have to buy the game. What about you? Do you always, always have to buy a game you're interested in or is watching it good enough for you sometimes?

Yea, mostly platformers, retro, mods and indie games that I would never buy but love watching the commentary

Dark Souls is a game I love watching other people play but don't have the patience to play myself

It really depends on the level of interest and cost associated with a game.

If I am vaguely interested in a game, I won't pay $60, but I will get it at $20 level.

If I am really interested in a game and am able I do feel compelled to experience it myself.

If I watch a game and am interested then be odd for me to not buy it. To me playing is integral to gaming.

No

You basically kill the concept that gaming is all about, interaction.
Therefore, YOU ARE NOT A TRUE GAMER. You should be banned.

yes... my libido level is off the hook

No I’ve watched a fair few playthroughs of games in the past mostly RPG’s where I haven't been willing to pick it up and do all the grinding etc. I have to be really into the gameplay to pick up a game usually.

i have a real hard time watching other people play, i get rather frustrated quickly. i can watch small bits here and there, but otherwise it bugs me.

unless its all done with comedic voice overs

I am Torgo, I take care of the place while the master is away.

I only watch on youtube games i own but dont want to play anymore but i want to know what happens, or games that i know i wont buy cause i would end up not playing them.

Only if the game looks fun to play.

If it is exceedingly story based and/or linear, one might as well let someone else do the heavy work.
