Forums - Microsoft - Kinect Sports Rivals - Review Thread META - 65

Not sure how much interest there is in this game around here, but the reviews are coming in now.

CVG 8/10

Rare has overcome nearly all preconceptions of motion control - Rivals is responsive, accurate, deep, reliable and well integrated. It just needs the space.

Destructoid 7/10

Kinect Sports Rivals has an inexcusable amount of wasted space with bowling and soccer, but the other four activities are engaging, and the world is charming and appealing enough to win over most of the gamers who enjoyed Wii Sports. If you have a family who likes getting together and play games like this, go ahead and pull the trigger -- all other curious parties should wait for a sale to compensate for the weak activities.

Polygon 6/10

Kinect Sports Rivals feels like it's halfway there.  But I spent too much time fighting the game, rather than feeling empowered by it, and the game's inconsistent controls and eye-rolling dialogue kills its momentum.

IGN 7.3

Gamesradar 3/5

Kinect Sports Rivals does a decent job of filling the Xbox One part game role, but it's an uneven package

I still feel that this beautiful world they created is so wasted on a kinect game.

I'm skeptical of this game but for the family..this is might be truly fun.. enjoy the game, gamers :-p

Praise the One.

The reviews seem quite positive about it though.

I'm not overly surprised by this, these types of games rarely review well, even the good ones.

I'll be keeping an eye on this by the way.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Looks like the problem is the mixed bag of games. The soccer game really does look like it sucks. I can't imagine people from countries where "football" is big will be pleased. The jet ski game looks fun, and maybe the rock climbing game, though I bet it would get old somewhat fast. Different reviewers seem to have different impressions about tennis and bowling.

I don't think this is going to be the home-run the XO needed to sell Kinect, however. The effect it has on hardware will be interesting to observe.

RIP Xbox One

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

The football game should of just been pulled out if those videos are anything to go by, not just because the leg tracking is so inaccurate, but because it looks garbage even if it was working perfectly. Someone should of switched that to a different game much earlier in development.

Expected scores, Kinect games receive 60-70 meta... family parties can be fun with it.

I was trying to think how it worked before the delay if it was released at launch... good choice the delay.

I just fell bad by what Rare turned in.

Interesting that the snippets of reviews has one saying how good and responsive the controls are and another saying how frustrating they are. Makes me wonder if someone doesn't have their Kinect calibrated properly.

Regardless, when I do eventually pick up an Xbox One, I'm getting this game for sure. I expect a bundle with it come the holiday for $399.
