Forums - Microsoft - Phil Spencer on DX12 Xbox One Improvements "Think Perfect Dark.Z to Halo 4

I know a lot of people seemed upset when Brad Wardell out a number on the improvements of DX12 for Xbox One.  However this is what Phil Spencer is saying on the improvements without adding numbers into the equation.  This will help get there

  1. how beneficial will DX12 be for XB1 only? Minor, moderate or large gain? Don't need specifics, just curious as to the expected gain.

  2. When you think about start of gen to end of gen teams learn a lot. DX12 will help as well, think PDZ to Halo 4.

yeah... misleading tittle, he didnt say DX12 will make that kind of jump, but help them improve the visuals in the long run like they did with 360 with perfect dark to halo 4.

we all know this, software will improve with time and graphics will improve with time. its the natural cycle of literally every console.

In other words, the XBox one will get better with or without DX12.

What will make the biggest difference is Devs getting better on the hardware with some help from DX12.

I dont really find it misleading.  As time goes on and with the help of DX12 their will be vast immrovement throughout the gen.    If they stuck with DX11 i doubt there would be that much improvements.

its misleading because it makes one think that DX12 will take make that jump instantly when DX12 is released.

So the same thing that happens on every console then

Do you think that kind of jump would be possible without DX12?  Im pretty sure Phil Spencer is saying that "with" DX12 it can be achieved.  Instantly, prob not, but it is going to be an impact

Yeah, he seems to be talking about the natural progression we've seen with all consoles over time.  This is nothing like what the guy from Stardock said.  "DX12 will help as well," that means that it will be part of the improvement in his example, not the whole of it.
