Mario Kart 8... Nope

Smash Bros... Nope

Super Mario 5... Well what else is really left, but what could they do with it??

The gyroscope feature in the gamepad in Mario Kart 8 lets you steer without the need on another controller or accessory.. unless you were one of many who played Maro Kart Wii and couldn't get the motion controls to work in your favor (which I'll never get since I was able to efficiently utilize the motion controls of Mario Kart Wii, Punch Out Wii, and ESPECIALLY Skyward Sword despite the hatred users here spewed upon such controls) in which case, I can clearly why you and those who would back you would brush off something you wouldn't be able to grasp if you couldn't do such on a predecessing entry.

I honestly expect Nintendo to find a way to phase the gamepad out to fund a much lower priced system and start selling it as an optional extra for a profit.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

I don't understand why they didn't stop to think about what could be done with it before they made it. If they had, they would have realized there wasn't much. They just wanted to say "See, it's like a tablet!" Almost no games have actually demonstrated 'asymmetric gameplay,' and how they thought that would be a good follow up to 'Revolutionary 1:1 motion controls' is beyond me.

But you don't even need the gamepad for that. You can just use a Wii remote to do the exact same thing.

Are you seriously trying to assume EVERYONE who owns a Wii U automatically owns a Wii Remote?

The majority? Most likely, but I, as a cashier, can confirm there are those who skipped the Wii and went for a Wii U.

Ergo, this: "without the need on another controller or accessory," still stands truthful, even if to a select few.

Maybe they don't, but they're a lot cheaper than the Wii U pad. If they've upgraded from a Wii, or already own Wii Party U however, yes, they have a Wii remote.

Pilmin 3- Possibly the best use of the gamepad but even then people mostly play this game with a Wiimote and Nunchuck.

Yeah, but even when I'm using Wiimote+nunchuk, I'm using the Gamepad as the map, so it has a very versatile setup.

I also think Rayman Legends had a pretty good way of using the Gamepad, and also Nintendo Land (of course, but it was boresome after a while, not a system seller)

Yep.

I hope it does, but I don't think they will.

If Nintendo utilizes the gamepad much for anything I think it will be the next Zelda.

People seriously need to quit talking about "when are Nintendo games going to use the GamePad". For one thing, they already HAVE been using it, for various things. Secondly, this is NOT the fuckin Wiimote. A whole new control concept forced on people for most games. It was neat sometimes, but NOT a replacement for traditional controls.

Wii U has a traditional controller, that just so happens to have a bunch of cool bells and whistles. People need to QUIT acting as if it actually is a fuckin' "tablet", because it isn't, anymore than the DS touch screen made that system a "tablet". Wii U has a touch screen/second screen, yes. And that's awesome. Off-TV play, map/item screen on controller, using as a second screen to scan/hold game text, etc., all awesome. Even using it in cases where it WORKS for touch controls = awesome. But that doesn't mean that every damn game should use the touch screen. Nor does it mean every Wii U game, retail or digital, is obligated to use all of the Gamepad's features. It's a controller, with fancy extra options at the disposal of developers.

I'm not against Nintendo using some touch-screen functionality in a Mario or Zelda for a little puzzle, or to interact with a menu, etc. etc. But as a main game mechanic? No thank you. That certainly doesn't mean the Gamepad was a "waste". It's great HAVING those options. It's great HAVING off-tv play, or a second screen for map/items so you don't have to pause, etc. It's great having the touch screen to navigate menus and type in codes ,etc. All those things are very useful. But I don't personally want another "motion control Mario".
