Is anyone here buying a Wii U for Mario Kart 8?

I own a Wii U - I am buying for sure 230 60.53%

I own a Wii U - I might buy it 15 3.95%

I own a Wii U - I will NOT buy this game 3 0.79%

I don't own a Wii U - I ... 31 8.16%

I don't own a Wii U - I... 15 3.95%

I don't own a Wii U - No... 48 12.63%

I don't own a Wii U - I ... 6 1.58%

I don't own a Wii U - so... 30 7.89%

Total:378

I already own a Wii U and I am going to keep that plugged in for when games like Mario Kart 8 do come out.

That said, I thought about the question and Mario Kart 8 wouldn't be a system seller for me. In fact, I don't think any "Mario" game would be system seller for me regardless of how phenomenally good they are.

It is weird, but I don't anticipate or "want" to play Mario games, but I do enjoy them when I do play them. I only play them with the family and I think that is why I enjoy them so much.

The other systems don't have any such games that can be enjoyed playing with family of four.

Ok, I did not answered the question... I already have a Wii U, but I don't think this game alone would make me buy it, this could be the tipping point, the last push for many, specially if it has good local and online multiplayer modes.

I would buy it if I had a job. or money...

I still don't understand those who say, "Looks awesome, not enough to make me buy a Wii U". So what is? It still has the most exclusives. It has the highest rated games. Again, what is it? Oh, that's right. It's not a shooter machine. Oh well. Forgot about that.

Longevity perhaps?  I am sure most consumers would like a device that will last a while (especially one commanding a 300 dollar price tag) and there is no guarantee that the Wii U in its current form will provide that, especially given the vibe from Nintendo and 3rd parties.

Idk have u seen all the "Nintendo should release a new console next year" threads?

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Got mine at launch, but I would have definitely bought a Wii U for it had I not already owned one. Mario Kart always gets a lot of play time in my house. I always feel I get my monies worth.

"Games are a trigger for adults to again become primitive, primal, as a way of thinking and remembering. An adult is a child who has more ethics and morals, that's all. When I am a child, creating, I am not creating a game. I am in the game. The game is not for children, it is for me. It is for an adult who still has a character of a child."

These kinds of threads are like a red rag to those who have zero interest in the Wii U, to come on and say "nope not me"

Does it come with the gimmick wheel adapter?

Not normally. But there will be some bundles that may. You don't need the wheel for this one.

You can use any of the following:

Wii U Gamepad

Wii U Pro Controller

Wii Remote w/wheel

Wii Remote w/Numchuck

Any of these will be fine.

I bought the official console + Mario 3D World for R$1500 in November last year (around U$625, since 1 dollar was something like R$2,40 at the time). Just wait for another good sale and you can buy it for way less than R$1900. Actually, Nintendo already reduced the price here to R$1699, so if you can get one of those 10%+12% sales you can buy one for R$1400 or less. The lowest price I've seen here was R$1399 (12x116,60) during "Dia do consumidor". Games prices are ok, I have never paid more than R$150 for a game, but I always wait to get at least one 10% coupon.

mine was R$1299 with Mario U + Luigi U + Mass Effect 3 + Nintendo Land, Dec 2013 ^^
