Forums - Gaming - No Wii U news in a while...

There's tons of exciting stuff happening on the indie side of things. I'm fully expecting a direct this month to contain VC releases and indie eShop exclusives. They'll probably also talk about MK8 one last time while they're at it, but there's enough coming to eShop to warrant its own direct.

Since that Quality of life presentation back a while ago.

Worried? I am.

Microsoft and Sony have just launched two big selling games, which pushed the next gen console sales even further.

Nintendo are... chilling..?

Are they preparing for a MASSIVE E3 blowout?!

They have no major game (I believe) in the pipeline until Mario Kart Wii U.

So you'd think they'd bombard us with previews and other marketing stuffs.
They so far have just announced the special edition of MK8.

At EGX Rezzed in Birmingham this week, there was 0 wii u presence.

The only nintendo presence was Pokemon x/y tournaments and retro games section.

They're not fighting anymore, they're just hopping through

Is the beginning of the end of wii u nigh?

Don't worry too much. Here is a little update for you...

I don't think they are preparing for a massive E3, they will do almost the same thing as last year.

There are no massive games for the console in America, but they are releasing 2 exclusives in Japan, plus a new bundle with Wii Sports Club

The marketing for MK8 is through the roof, usually you don't see pre-orders in my country, only when there are limited editions, and usually just 15 days before the release, this time the pre-orders already started (2 months before release) and is only for the regular edition, they are also hosting a launch event which never happens here, for any game.

They don't have much to announce at the moment, there are some release dates missing (Bayonetta 2, X, Smash, Hyrule Warriors, etc), but they are saving some of that stuff for E3, there are a lot of rumours, but we will have to wait.

If you check the other companies, you see that there are no exclusive in stores for a long time, because they just released their big guns for the first semester, same thing with Nintendo, only that MK8 has not arrived yet.

No new Wii U news? I post like 30-50 things a day when I am on here.

So it's either repetitive clickbait threads or repetitive April Fools Day gags from you lot around here today, isn't it?

Another tally section for me to create, then.

woops missed that forum post

I'm almost starting to wonder if Nintendo purposely pushed Mario Kart 8 back from April into a late May release to make Iwata look better for the share holders meeting in June.

Because he will probably try to tout initial Mario Kart 8 sales figures as a reason why shareholders should not vote against him. Every year the shareholders get to vote on their confidence in Iwata, last year was the first year it fell to 77% after him being above 90% every year. This year it looks poised to drop even further.

If the vote goes below 60%, Iwata would be in real danger of being removed or having to resign to save face.

There's been a lot of April Fool news with Wii U, that counts right?

I expect and April Direct though, I can't remember if we got one in March, I think we did.

You guys simply don't understand Ninentedo's strategy:

1. Release console with 1-year head start on competition
2. Release like 1 game every 3 months
3. Don't advertise at all
4. ????
5. Profit!

Maybe Iwata wants to retire so he's tanking the stock in order to load up on it? Then the next guy hopefully fixes the mess and boosts the stock up again.

This is why CEOs shouldn't be given stock options or allowed to own stock in the company they work for.

"For society as a whole the squandering of capital invested
in a definite project means only the loss of a small part of its total funds; for
the owner it means much more, for the most part the loss of his total fortune.
But if a manager is given a completely free hand, things are different. He
speculates in risking other people’s money. He sees the prospects of an
uncertain enterprise from another angle than that of the man who is answerable
for the losses. It is precisely when he is rewarded by a share of the profits
that he becomes foolhardy because he does not share in the losses too." - http://mises.org/books/humanaction.pdf
