Forums - Microsoft - XB1 Games with Gold "might not look exactly the way things have looked in the past"

I don't really get why some people here get so upset with the notion of some of us on XBox don't like the concept of PS+. If you like it, great for you. I think it's crap, just as I think it's crap that Titanfall is unplayable without XBox live arcade. This is a DRM policy that is very anti-consumer in my view. Bringing in Netflix or other services in the equation is irrelevant since they are services I can get outside of XBox. The gold membership does give me the benefit of having everything on the same place.

How exactly is it crap? I can understand that your preference is to own a game outright, but to call the PS+ game rental service crap is pretty ridiculous. PS+ is cheaper and better than going to my local video store and renting hardcopy games. Even getting PS+ for a single month any time the "free" game is a game I want to play, it's cheaper than going and getting that game from the local video store and renting it for a month (i.e. paying the weekly rental fee 4 times). And because I have my PSN account activated on my friend's PS3, he gets access to all my PS+ rentals too. There is simply no way that's a crap service.

They dont understand, if they did, it would not be $15 or less 3-5+ year old games, which they consider a deal since the crazy bastards still want $60 for them normally.

PS+ is a steal and worth way more than what is charged. I hope MS can change their shitty model they have now and improve it, with Phil having more say so now, I think its possible.

No Id prefer to have the game. I dont want a rental service.

Until you get a "rental service" from games with gold and then you'll praise it to no end. Hand Down PSN+ > Games with gold. There's no question. Maybe you should try it before you knock it. Plus it's not like you'd ever stop  subscribing anyway.

That's exactly what i thought when i read his comment :p Considering the unlikeliness of him cancelling his Gold sub, you'd think he'd prefer to be given newer or more popular titles than stuff the competing service was giving out almost a year ago.

I'm sure GWG with improve over time, but currently it's barley even worth comparing to PS+. It doesn't supply even a fraction of the value. The US PS+ is currently providing Uncharted 3, Tomb Raider, Payday 2, Bioshock: Infinite, Remember Me, XCOM, LBP Karting, Borderlands 2 and a couple of other titles just for signing up :/ That's before you even considering the monthly games and deals you get. It's no wonder everyone loves PS+.

It's just rhetoric because he believes XB > PS. So you can just toss logic out the window, because no matter what, PS is inferior (seriously....what other reasoning would have you pass up UC3, Tomb Raider, Arkham City, Bioshock: Infinite, Metro: Last Light, SotC HD, DmC, PayDay 2, XCOM, LBP Karting, Borderlands 2, and more so you can say GwG is a "better deal" because you get to "own".....Sid Meier's Civ Rev?).

PS+ could starting giving out free games for you to "keep" tomorrow, and he'd probably say "I still like Game with Gold better, because that's been their business model since Day 1. Sony is only doing it to bring in more subscribers. Once they get what they want, they'll stop doing it. Game with Gold will keep the way it is forever"

Continuing with my Netflix comparison from prior, why do you guys have no problem "renting" movies (depending on the movie, it's a piece of entertainment you enjoy once for 2 hours) for $100 a year, but are so taken aback at the idea of "renting" 60+ video games (things with high investment time and high replay value) for $50 a year? If it's only because "I just don't like Playstation" (which is what this all probably boils down too. No way you say GwG is better than PS+ because you get to keep Gears of War 1; an 8 year old game, otherwise).....that's a dumb reason to not at least acknowledge how good a service is.

I hope MS changes there games for gold model to something more like PS + if it means they will be getting better games. I mean wouldn't you rather have the games PS+ offers right now then what games for gold is offering?

Come on, you know why he is saying it's crap, and it's got nothing to do with the actual service lol...................PS plus is an amazing service period.

Definatley sounds like its going rental, its the only way they will compete with Sonys offerings which quite often has brand new indie games or 6 month old box product in the mix

Well I never disapproved of current Games for Gold games. Old or not, if I haven't played them....would their age detract from the fun I would have? Offcourse not.......

If every month gives away say a $10 retail game and a $5 XBLA game, thats $180 worth of free games. If for any reason I don't want Gold for a while, they are still mine.

That said.....gamers today are more entitled and whiny then ever. They want deals, current games, and they want it NOW. If they want more current games at the cost of them being rented.....so be it.

PS+ is great for the games it offers. But you know it was origionally conceived as a smoke and mirrors tactic to compensate for it not being on the same level as Live in terms of social/MP features: Party chat, community features, and just the little things like getting where you want to go and knowing what your online friends were doing, making it very easy to connect with them.

How is your statement although true related to the OP. Were talking games offering policies here not features or this one is better than that one. But to the point you are trying to make, I would argue that Plus now offers the better service so who cares about past short comings?
