It's a little more than just support, though, since Nintendo is picking up the licensing fees for any developer who uses Unity on the Wii U. I don't know if they've called it a partnership, but it's not much of a stretch to consider it one.

Steam games = x86
Wii U = PowerPC

And even if it were easy to port... Valve doesn't own over 99 percent of the games on the Steam platform, they can't just port them to the Wii U.

The rights to do such ports are with the developers (if self-published) or publishers, which could make Wii U ports on their own, if they wanted it.

And I never suggested that Nintendo would be altering their hardware or underlying software tech. I'm not sure what your point is.

It really depends on what is Nintendo objective, if they want to "steal" shares form MS and Sony catering HC gamers a custom Steam machine would be a good idea, if they want to bring back families, and casuals, it won't help much.
I also tought about a custom steam machine some weeks ago, I'll add Nintendo could let Steam developers use thier proprietary controllers, (WiiU controller, and wiimote) adding a small fee on the game price.

Anyway, this is only speculation, there is no evidence pointing that Nintendo is planning something like this.

I don't think better is the right word, but yeah, I'd rather play Gears with the Pro Controller. And thinking about it, I'd rather play Infamous with it too.

It must be good then. Never heard people talking about their experience with it. Even WiiU owners.

The only supposed cons are digital triggers and no head phone jack, both of which don't bother me. Oh, and it has like 80 hours of battery life.
