ESO was terrible imo. After playing the beta I simply ignored their following 3 beta invites including the one where they said I could play as an Imperial to play Race the Sun instead.

I don't care how much "content" it has, if its not a good game then I'm not gonna buy and I'm sure as hell not going to pay a sub for it.

Hell I didn't even feel like playing it when it was free!

Destiny maybe, Planetside 2 definetly, but this no way. Zenimax, I am dissapoint.
I can see this going f2p in a year, 2 years tops.

In what way was it terrible? Boring? What did you miss?

When playing the beta I faced 2 major problems:

1. I had more fun with the bugs then the core gameplay. The only other game that I've played that was like that was Sonic 06. Knowing it was an early beta I expected rampant bugs but the my issues where with the things that were working correctly.

a. to elaborate: the combat in the game is basically standard fare with the exception that you can move around. Enemies follow the exact same pattern of nomal interruptable hits and blockable strong hits which basically makes nearly every enemy easy to defeat regardless of level. The only thing that gave me trouble were ranged mages but that was only when I was afk.

b. the skill progression has elder scrolls -esque growth by use, but its just another excuse to grind and if the grinding isn't fun then that defeats the purpose right there which goes back to a. The skills you learn barely even change how you fight at all. Even after getting the ultimate dragonknight skill there was literally no change in my strategy as combat did not change at all either.

c. Questing is alright, its literally SWTOR with worse graphics and more lag.

d. crafting, enchanting, etc is completly unintuitive if you played es games and completly boring if you played any other mmo.

e. the inventory is a joke

f. the huge map is a plus though, but I just can't be bothered to explore in this game.

2. After playing the game after a while, the only reason I continued playing was by virtue of the fact that it was free now and I would have to pay later.

Naaaah, $60 + $15 is way too much plus the combat seems way too clunky . Ill stick to Dark Souls 2 and Dragon's Dogma

Obscure Vita 2014 games to look out for

Kick and Fennick Murusaki Baby Metrico

I'm still addicted. And it looks so good on my Radeon R9 290 PC. I wander if it's got a Metacritic score yet?

I'm loving it so far. Just about to hit lvl 10, servers are down for maintenance to prep for hard launch but I am really enjoying it. Good exploration, love the skill system. Feels solid.

Subscription fees are a big no-no in my book. Besides the obviously cool universe, it looks like it offers very little that other MMO's don't. It's probably a no-go for me.

I would love to be but between PS+ subscription, and GameAccess (Canadian equivalent to GameFly), and buying games for my VITA, PS3, and PS4 (I don't buy WiiU games) I cannot afford ANOTHER monthly fee.

Why r u against subs? It has its pros and cons but one big pro is that it's ensures that more people are dedictated and serious than it would be for a FTP.

$15 per month is peanuts. I already got $15 worth of entertainment in just four days (around 25 hours played).

Plus FTP MMO means pay to win (although personally that would be a positive since I have a very high income and comparibly little time).

For me personally, it's about actually finding an MMO that is worth the money. Paying a monthly fee for grinding and suffering through fetch quests and waiting for rare spawns is simply not my idea of a worthwhile investment.

Well that problem is the same for sub based MMO as well as FTP since both types want to keep the player invested as long as possible. So both types will want the player to endlessly grind and get addicted to mundane tasks.

Or do you argue that the FTP model somehow supports a less grinding gameplay structure?
