I feel for Col and his kid. I really hope everything works out for him. Leaving Evolution Studios to be closer to his family was the right move. Pete Dodd got what he deserved for being way too loose with his mouth. Regardless of whether or not he had inside "gossip" the fact remains that he knew he was a personality that many listened to and would take seriously.
He also knew that his information could very well be inaccurate and yet spoke as if he knew for certain that was the case. That Col was in danger of being fired so he quit instead. He didn't even seem to stop and think as to why Sony allowed Sucker Punch months more time on Infamous without firing someone. How they allowed Stig's team four years to work on a project that went nowhere before they finally decided to pull the plug.
I have no doubt the Santa Monica situation went down as he described it. A lot of people figured that much already and Pete Dodd wasn't the only one saying it. Richmond? Yeah, that sounds reasonable. A studio made him a great offer that likely involved more money and power than he had with Sony so he took it. Tretton? An already powerful and wealthy guy wanting more money and power who got told "no" so he took his ball somewhere else? Totally see that. I like Tretton and I don't blame him for wanting more.
However, the situations involving Amy Hennig and Col Rodgers just could not be painted in a clear picture by anyone who didn't actually know what was going on because there was really nothing to go on. No indications. We still don't know why exactly Hennig left but now we do know about Rodgers. We know now that it wasn't because Sony was pissed at him for taking his time with Driveclub and it wasn't because "Sony has no money" so Col boned out and started up an indie studio.
Pete Dodd may very well have contacts in the industry but he's no DemonNite or Verendus. He doesn't work in these places. His information is second-hand and now very apparent that some of it could be nothing more than inaccurate gossip or, worse, speculation posed as facts.
