Forums - Sony - Should Sony offer a Vita/PS4 bundle SKU?

Should Sony offer an official Vita/PS4 SKU for $500?

So Sony is doing amazingly well with the PS4 at the $400 pricepoint, but the Vita is suffering horribly, with a very low install base. Should Sony offer an official bundle SKU, almost like how Microsoft has the X1 and Kinect bundled? Sony has stressed the compatibility and interaction between the two consoles, so offering a $500 SKU with both included would help expand both of them, the Vita especially. Sony would be taking a loss on each one sold, but can make it up through software sales on both the Vita and PS4, and a larger Vita install base would mean more developers wanting to make games for it, which in turn means more software sales and profit. If Sony keeps working on increasing integration between the two, I think it could be a possibility. Thoughts?

I think they should definitely do a bundle like that in Japan. Elsewhere, I just can't see it being popular enough to justify bothering with, at least not until the Vita and memory cards are better priced.

I'm gonna say no.

One of the strengths that Sony has with the PS4 is they didn't bundle some expensive, unnecessary component to the PS4. It's a no frills game console at $399.99, they should keep it like that to avoid confusion and to keep hammering home their price advantage over the X1.

Once you offer two SKUs then people get cold feet about whether or not they're buying the right one, which is the main SKU? "I thought PS4 was cheap, this is not cheap", etc. etc.

If I were MS I'd jump all over that and start saying "see? PS4 really isn't cheap to get the full PS4 you gotta pay $500+ with some Vita thing that no one wants. Kinect 2.0 is far more useful, X1 is the better value".

As opposed to a whole SKU and packaging; might test the water with simple promotions that buy a Vita and get $25, $50 or even $100 off the PlayStation 4 to see if it moves the needle at all.

That said even if I am loving my Vita, I understand just not many games that strike a chord with general consumers in North America.

If it's cheaper than buying both separately it could work. Vita is overpriced.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Was going to put select yes on the poll, but bymistake selected no. :P

It's a wise choose to do this, I can see it do very well in Japan and possibly Europe.

nice

Might as well, seems they can't do no wrong at this point.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Yes they should have from day one, especially with the shortages I’m sure some people would of bought the bundle if it were the only sku available.

Yes they should just as long as its not sold at a loss then its alright. The Vita could use any help it can get.

I'm sure an 8gb memory card could be thrown in as well, and having the bundle in existence in and of itself should hopefully help with the popularity issue, especially if they bundle a game that uses the Vita and PS4 in an interactive manner.
