Think the last time i was subscribed i had a 6 next to my profile, but not been a member for a few years now.

1 or 2 of the free test months coming with each console and the occasional free weekends and 48h codes that come with games and thats it :)

I see no reason in paying for something that should be free.

Gaming companies decided to remove player hosted servers (like on PC. Where you create your own server and people join). They also decided to make it pay2play for EVERYONE not only strangers playing with strangers or people participating in tournaments etc. (why do I have to pay when I want to play with my friends? rofl?)

It is pure greed IMHO and only people that want to play on official anti-cheat servers with strangers etc should be forced to pay. People like me that only want to play with friends (and mostly COOP) games should not pay because I know my friend is not cheating and therefore there is no need for official anti-cheat-servers or whatever.

Also Sony adopted that not because they cannot keep the servers running without it but because they DONT WANT TO. They even said that offering free online was one of the worst decisions last gen because Microsoft made so much money.

And I dont want to be part of that.

after e3 last year when I traded in my x360, I had live for as long as they had live. then when I got the xbo in Feb, I got a year of live for $35. I used to buy the family plan and break up the $100 amongst 3 friends. It sucks that is gone now. :(

overall its ok. its better than the other japanese company with an clunky free network from year 2000. Thats about the only great thing I can say. Without a x360 i cant get the old games with gold for it.

overall its alright. nothing to brag about. I like the compeditors service overall though.

I believe I am going on 6 years. I think its stability and reliability as well as the amount of users are what I enjoy most about it.

One year, wasn't exactly blown away so now I just use Steam for online gaming.

I'll never understand where people got that idea that online gaming SHOULD be free??? Not only there is no basis to the argument but on top of that free solution have either nowhere close to the QoS of most pay solution or do not have half the features and option available to all their users...

so yeah comparing XBL to free solutions is like comparing F2P MMO to subscription ones...

and if you want to just play with friends you can do LANs or host your own servers for free with Xbox 360 just the same...you actually don't have to pay to play online MP on Xbox 360 if you don't want to...

Since 2003 so, about 11 years. As of April 1st though, that will officially and forever cease.
