Ps4 and + early Buy now and build up a hell of a library of free games.

Why i got X1 and Wiiu, i'm a sucker for new tech and impulse.

Buy a PS4, sell it on Ebay for extra money. Continue cycle until demand is no longer.

Fanboys that want bragging rights to selling more systems and idiots mostly buy new systems(and phones!).

Well I answered that too, but I'll admit that the Wii Sports comment was a little off topic. I'll add that I bought the Wii for Super Mario Galaxy, after the Wii was around 3-4 months old. I'm not comparing Wii Sports to SM64 or Halo (hell no), but they do have one thing in common; they're launch titles. And launch titles are important.

And well, Halo may have defined the console FPS we know and love today, but did it really define the Xbox? I don't know, I can't answer that, I'm not the most hardcore Xbox gamer you'll find... And SM64 defined the 3D platformer, but I guess it could also be done on other consoles (PS1) at the time... Don't shoot me if I'm wrong, I'm not a techie.

Wii Sports isn't half of those games, hell not even a hundredth of them. But it did define the Wii because of the controls. That's why at least 80 million copies of it exists around the world. But yeah, SM64 and Halo is a thousand times better, end of off topic rant.

I never bought a console on release before... so PS4 was my first.

I never felt so happy with a console too... every week a new game to play/buy... I'm discovering and enjoying a lot of great games that I will never buy if I got the console later... it makes me fell to not choose to be a day one buyer for PS3, PS2 and N64.

I will never miss a launch again.

i bought a ps4 at launch because demand was so high, and i wanted to play bf4 with 64 player conquest, and 60 fps. Also, my friends were buying ps4's so i figured i might as well buy one sooner rather than later.

Then afterwards hardly any more games came out.  The PSP on the other hand(below,) lots of games came out.

I buy it for the tech. I've only gotten two systems at launch. The Wii and the PS4. The Wii had a great launch title in Zelda (despite it being a gamecube game later), and the tech was brand new and hadn't yet devolved into the waggle-fest and minigame mess that it would later. The PS4 just looks so damn pretty. And Killzone and Knack provided me with a couple of really fun weekends, with the promise for much more later.

The only ones I got the year it launched was Wii U and PS3.

Few reasons:
-I want to be blown away by the more powerful hardware
-I can easily afford a one time purchase of whatever dollars for years of fun.
-I like to play new games when they're still new and on everyone's mind
-If I wait I'll be overwhelmed with games and won't be able to give them my attention
-So I can be educated when others spread untruths
-I don't want to miss out on anything I might want to play
