....because the game looks pretty ?

Did you notice how the applause boils down to "great graphics/presentation" ?

Miyamoto has always been more interested in game mechanics than sheer technical prowess/ graphics .

Miyamoto has unlimited imagination but vastly limited technical skills. His games are like shroom-induced dreams from a guy whose real life skills can only take him as far as fast food cashier. But that discussion is for another thread all together.

Yeah...that is the reason why he has always worked as a game designer/ director and now as a general overseer....and never as a programmer....it is the very definition of his prior job.

And the sentence in the middle is just .....trolling for the sake of it.

Come on now guys.... It's a fun and solid game, but has not raised the bar in any sense. To say it raised the bar graphically implies it surpasses the best on pc too... It does not. It tells a fun, but average story. The gameplay is fun, but nothing that hasn't been done before.... I'm not knocking the game, I have it a 9/10, I just think everyone is filled with hyperbole, and needs to come down to earth and reality. Let's not rewrite the bible, with second son as it's core element.... Let's keep it real and say what it is: a fun game, that's very much worth buying. Bar setting standard, it is not.

twitter conversation is funny because thats how a PC vs console argument ends up all the time.

Console person keeps claiming small minority of PC are high end gamers while PC keeps boasting about the high end without giving 2 shits about the millions of PC gamers who get worse graphics than consoles because of the lack of standardisation and consequently optimisation.

I meant because the game wouldn't be good enough for him. That' s my understanding of the reaction he gave the original Metroid Prime concept before coming in and fixing it. Also, I was kidding.

Maybe because it is open world? Visually it isn't that far ahead of uncharted 3..

When people talk about the bar being raised, it's generally in reference to consoles, not PC (there is a high end PC bar too, but it's kinda silly to include it with the consoles one. A $400 console i never going to outpace a $3000 graphics beast). In that respect inFamous has very much raised the graphical bar. It's in line with Killzone and Ryse's visuals, while being an open world. That's a hell of an achievement, especially for a 1st gen PS4 game.

Well, even on PC, no open world reached such graphical level.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Good point, i'd agree with you on that. Of course it can't out do the PC in potential AA, FPS and resolution (though SS does excel in all three of those for a console), but still, in every other regard it probably is the best looking open world game we've seen. I think i'm going to end up filling my PS4 up with the number of screenshots i keep taking :p
