You messed up when you tried to "put it into perspective" Every game is more expensive in UK if you convert it to USD and VAT is one of those reasons.

The trend was set by GT5 prologue. Personally I don't see any problem : people know it's short beforehand, so if they buy it that means they reckon the experience in a whole is worth the price. Believe me I would give an insane amount of money for an FFXV prologue (I bought FFVIIAC BR just for FFXIII demo)

He's a fucking liar... the games not been out long enough for a start. He's almost certainly just saying that to try and sell it, often game stores outright tell clerks to lie to customers.
| TornadoCreator said: As for my question, if you wouldn't mind, I would genuinely like to know what you feel here. Do you feel supporting games doing this; Having preludes and DLC, and games released in episodic form; do you feel this is a good thing for you? Is this something you want in games, to make them more digestable and more able to more risky concepts that may not get funded otherwise? Or is this a compromise you feel you must make to have games because it's the way the industry is going? Or perhaps you have another take on it. Also I'd be interested to know your opinion as someone working in the industry, does that change your opinion at all? Thanks. |
I don't mind dlc, preludes and episodic games.. frankly I really like Episodic gaming.. it's great in my personal situation that i have little time to play.. I also sometimes don't buy the 2nd 3rd etc episode cause I didn't like it.. if I like it I buy a seasonpass..
Thats also a reason why I like mobile gaming.. most of the time I buy them when the price is still new.. i think they care more about gameplay and having fun then most console games out there who are more about "cinematic experiences" and actually seeing fun and gameplay not as the main priority.. i personally hope that more tripple AAA games would be in an episodic form.. Cause the overall game experience in 1 episode has to be great.. Are people complaing MGS:GZ is a bad game? No, they only complain about length vs price.. to me thats silly..
How do people value fun? is it 5 bucks an hour for something good, 10 bucks for something great? See... for everyone that would be a different amount... I have a pretty good job so if i have to pay 40 buck for a one hour great experience I'm willing to do that.. I can see that in your situation it's not worth it for you.. I can understand that, i didn't have much money when I was younger.. so everything seemed expensive and wrong when for example GT4 prologue came out and i really liked GT. Nowdays I can see thats part of the industry... One group has to pay a high entry so more people can enjoy it latter on when there is a price drop.. Bills need to be paid, developers need to have food on the table.
There have been great games coming out who failed sales wise.. which is bad for the industry.. developers shutting down and us losing great games.. if they can cover the risk more evenly I'm all for that; i believe it will help to create a healthy industry with more and better games.
I'm in marketing and have seen the troubles people getting in when you release a product, spend millions on dollars in ads and your product sells shit and then it goes on sale so that people are scrapping every bit of money they can to survive..

Let's just say we both got the game last Firday XD. So he could have at least put in 30 hours.

As fpr tje core topic at hand, I jave never played an MGS games before and I see no problem with this practice as long as A. the prologue doesnt need to be bought to have the full game flow and be understood. B. the prologue is priced accordingly.
If there is a precedent being set, its by the consumers' wallets.
I too like short games. And episodic content, like The Walking Dead series. But paying 30 euros for a game that can be completed in less than an hour? No. So I really hope that sales will dissapoint, so we never have to see something like this again.

C. Its clearly advertised as a prologue made to enhance the original game (like DLC)
For. this game i feel konami failed at B and C. Half price for a game that will end up being a quarter of the length as the full game? Its steep. Also, I know Konami have said it a prologue but I dont feel thats enough. Most people dont read what publishers say. Releasing this game as disc based makes it seem like a full game.
If companies want to follow thos type of model in the future then sony and MS should enforce limits like online store only and no more than 20 dollars.
i only payed 20 ( 10 actually),
cant complain , the game was amazing, really cant wait for phantom pain and next metal gear online
