Forums - Sony - Technically inferior Xbox One games have higher metacritic, WHY?

I listen to audiobooks while i game much of the time because its hard to justify playing a video game for hours on end when you could be doing a video game AND something else at the same time. You might not agree, but I can play Peggle 2 and Titanfall just fine while listening to lectures and then I am getting more out of the experience. 'Feeling the explosion wash over you' is fun, but it isn't very developmental. Just as I don't like to listen to lectures and stare at a wall, I don't like to shoot robots and listen to nothing but explosions.

If that makes me less of a 'real gamer' in your eyes, fine. It does make me happier, smarter, and more comfortable with the time I put into playing video games, and that matters to me more than your opinion of my gaming 'purity.' And I'm sure Jennifer Lawrence would agree with me.

Bolded: Clearly uninformed personal opinion.  No offense, but you assume all these things without prior knowledge of the person.

You are looking for offense. I meant it made ME 'happier, smarter, and more comfortable with the time I put into playing video games' than if I DIDN'T LISTEN TO AUDIOBOOK WHILE I PLAYED NON-STORYBASED GAMES.

NOT that it made me 'happier and smarter' than whoever was reading this. Though now, after this last exchange, I don't particularly doubt that is the case, in this situation.

I think the lower framerates and softer resolution lends to a more cinematic experience.

Wasn't 'looking' for offense, I simply read it that way.  Yeesh, calm down, I could've read you the riot act, and simply said it was uninformed personal opinion.  Get a grip.

Just let's not talk to each other, okay? We don't add anything to each other's conversations. You displease me, I clearly displease you. If I could block myself from seeing you, I would. Let's just pretend we can and ignore each other, please.

I'll say and do whatever I like, you're free to do as you wish.

And I wouldn't say I'm 'displeased' with you, I don't know you, that would assume you have far more influence in my life than any other random person on the internet.  Which is to say, none.

As others have said, X1 has fewer reviews.
It is interesting though that the lower resolution and framerate isn't such a huge deal for even the critics.

It should be pretty similar and the only explanation is that there is more review on PS4. Another explanation would be the experience is effectively better on Xbox One (other than those obsessed with resolution/frame rate) with a different controller, Xbox Live integration, Kinect maybe?

Now, having the same scores (on average); it is obviously showing that the difference in resolution/frame rate for the multiplatform is really not a big deal like few people are claiming.

The Xbox Live experience is better on a single player game?

Well okay then, if you say so.

Well, to be fair there are a lot of nice aspects to Xbox Live that don't involve multiplayer, like an activity feed where your friends see your achievements and you see theirs, etc. Being able to snap a Netflix movie while playing a game improves one's experience if that's what you want to do, etc.

Wait...snapping in Netflix while playing a game, improves the game?

It does make me happier, smarter, and more comfortable with the time I put into playing video games (UPDATE: this is saying happier than if I didn't do it, smarter than if I didn't do it, and more comfortable with my time playing games than if I didn't do it, NOT, as some seem to think, that I'm saying listening to audiobooks makes me happier and more comfortable with my time on video games than the person I'm talking to. In fact, I suspect most people are much more comfortable with their time playing games than I am, it always feels like I could be doing more productive things to me, hence the audiobooks), and that matters to me more than your opinion of my gaming 'purity.' And I'm sure Jennifer Lawrence would agree with me.

Lol, I just asked how netflix improves the game warranting a higher score. I don't know why you feel the need to validate your gaming habits.

I'm with you 100%. If I'm playing Call of Duty, a sports game (like NBA 2k) or a Fighting game -- I usually listen to background noise. It's usually podcasts or music since those are free. But I'm getting more into audio books as well. There's nothing more relazing to me than playing Street Fighter with some jazz music in the background.

Those are exactly the kinds of experiences that I enjoy audiobooks on. You should try Audible. You can get it on your phone. it's cool you get a free book every month, you can crank up the narrator speed (I listen to all books at 3x speed, you can get through them faster) and they have just tons of awesome non-fiction and fiction on there. I have like hundreds of audiobooks. Also, you can get an audiobook reader app and just put audiobooks you may already have the files to on there as well.

Well okay then, if you say so.

Did I touch any sensible area lol?

I listed a list of possible reasons and if it does not apply to all games, it certainly apply to several of them. You may disagree if you want but I do not see the point of being arrogant in your response. And you must realize that Xbox Live is more than playing multiplayer games but the whole experience...

so how do u explain ps3 having better scores than 360

I do not have any and never did I "explain" why the Xbox One scores are higher than PS4.
If you do not believe the reasons I gave as a possible explaination are the right ones, it is up to you :).

Also, can you tell me why (other than not fiting your agenda) the reasons I gave may not be one of the possible reason and deserve this kind of arrogant anwser? (please be sure to read what I said: "one of the possible reasons" and not "exact reasons")...
