I listen to audiobooks while i game much of the time because its hard to justify playing a video game for hours on end when you could be doing a video game AND something else at the same time. You might not agree, but I can play Peggle 2 and Titanfall just fine while listening to lectures and then I am getting more out of the experience. 'Feeling the explosion wash over you' is fun, but it isn't very developmental. Just as I don't like to listen to lectures and stare at a wall, I don't like to shoot robots and listen to nothing but explosions.

If that makes me less of a 'real gamer' in your eyes, fine. It does make me happier, smarter, and more comfortable with the time I put into playing video games, and that matters to me more than your opinion of my gaming 'purity.' And I'm sure Jennifer Lawrence would agree with me.

Bolded: Clearly uninformed personal opinion.  No offense, but you assume all these things without prior knowledge of the person.

You are looking for offense. I meant it made ME 'happier, smarter, and more comfortable with the time I put into playing video games' than if I DIDN'T LISTEN TO AUDIOBOOK WHILE I PLAYED NON-STORYBASED GAMES.

NOT that it made me 'happier and smarter' than whoever was reading this. Though now, after this last exchange, I don't particularly doubt that is the case, in this situation.

I'm with you 100%. If I'm playing Call of Duty, a sports game (like NBA 2k) or a Fighting game -- I usually listen to background noise. It's usually podcasts or music since those are free. But I'm getting more into audio books as well. There's nothing more relazing to me than playing Street Fighter with some jazz music in the background.
