Forums - Microsoft - Talked to MS rep. at Target today.

Jist of the convo, MS arent really happy with XB1 performance. MS are spending (read as wasting) lots of money trying to spur sales. Titanfall bundle and now Forza bundle were from excessive stock. His job is to drive to a bunch of stores in the area to make the regular XB1 into the forza bundle by opening up all the old consoles adding a Forza DL code and slapping a sticker on the box. Its tedious and annoying

Have some faith my padawan.

Why doesn't he just email? Is it to not have a paper trail?

Those consoles won't move themselves. Something has to be done.

So, it's not flamebaiting or trolling when you start a negative convo about a console you don't own, Max?

Hah, you're the guy who always has doom and gloom for Xbox.

They aren't spending wasting lots of money, all they've done so far is pack in a game which doesn't cost much. If they really want to spur sales they'll cut the price.

They're actually kind of doing amazingly well, given They've got a good shot to win March NPD which is kind of ridiculous at $100 more than PS4. Titanfall seems to be a hit. And PS4 is now basically no longer supply constrained (been in stock at Amazon for a week so far).

Do they really use such low tech methods to make Forza bundles? How do they get the sticker seal off without damaging the box? Try opening a console box and then trying to make it look like you didn't to see what I mean. Removing the seal tends to rip paper off.

I suppose, otherwise they'd have to knock the price down on all the non-forza boxes to get them to sell, which would be too expensive. Forza is basically free to Microsoft.

While this might be true, this is the same like ''my brother works for Microsoft''.

I think it's good that they are at least taking initiative and adding more incentives to buying the console (A free game, Kinect etc).

Better than just doing nothing and "hoping" your console starts selling.

Bit odd that an MS rep would go to stores and change their stock to bundles. Don't Target etc. have their own staff for that?

I've seen Nintendo reps at Target before. The companies send them out to keep the retailers happy and do work like this for them. Imagine how much less fun it would be carrying inventory of this if the store had to use its own employees for the task. It's not Target's fault X1 needs a packed in game to boost sales, so MS is trying to make it easy for Target to sell more. I imagine that other types of products have similar people.

Yup. And they'll continue. Until they're ready to bring out the big gun of the $100 price drop. Which could be as soon as E3 imo, or maybe as late as Fall.

They wont just sit still and let PS4 crush them. Cant let that happen in a douopoly and risk losing 3rd party support.
