$250 million eh?  That's good, but they lost $522 million last year.

So they'll only be able to survive till 2030 then.

If they made 250 million a year they'll be able to survive till jesus come back

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I don't think that's how stocks work anyways. If they're posting losses every year then that will kill their market cap which will in turn make them a smaller company.

He's not using market cap but actual cash either in the bank or securities.

Edit: opps read it wrong, I guess so but they would have to sell off about everything.

They don't have to sell off anything.  That's cash in the bank and securities.  Not physical assets or IP valuations.

You know what's even worse, that they have all this money yet they choose a cheaper route with their new console!
I'm glade I get my nintendo offerings second hand!

You know how people say too much of a good thing is bad for you? Well, this is one of those things. Except it was never good.

Please at least try to be original with your defense for Nintendo. This is quite old.

True, it's old.  Yet notice how many still don't understand this?

I can see the truth in this. However, how old are these figures? Do they still accurately represent what Nintendo truly has "in the bank"?

They've been cutting corners on their consoles for years now, since gc at the very least, because they want to make a profit on every console sold rather than operating at a loss like sony and microsoft have with their consoles.  It's part of the reason why nintendo has money in the bank to lose, for now.

I just linked to their most recent financial info a few minutes ago.

Based on cash, short term securities and some other receivables, they have $11,347,566,900.90 USD as of Dec 31, 2013.

It's from last year's financial statement.
