None of them really :/ Everything "new" each of the companies as brought about has just been the progression of other tech. Online gaming has exited since before even the PS1, motion controls arrived well before the Wii, touch pads exited before the DS, so did disk based games before Sony used them for a console. Almost everything they have done can be followed by the statement "wow, that's a great step up from [inset last version]".

A more appropriate question would be which of them pushed the gaming market forwards the most. In that respect, again, i wouldn't say there is any one winner. Each have helped create the current industry in their own way, from dozens of small pushes to singular large ones.

Microsoft for sure.

They pretty much perfected and created the organized console exclusive online service. Which has become essential to the console gaming industry today.

That alone with their other numerous innovations (especially Xbox One) make them the most innovative.

I voted Nintendo, it's really between them and Microsoft.

Nintendo
Dual screens (DS, 3DS and Wii U)
Touch controls (DS, 3DS and Wii U)
Motion controls (Wii and Wii U)
Autostereoscopic 3D (3DS)
Virtual Console (3DS and Wii U)

Microsoft
Online infrastructure (Xbox, 360 and One)
3D scanner (Kinect)
Xbox Live Arcade (Xbox, 360 and One)

Online infrastructure encompasses things like achievements, party chat, etc. I see the VC and XBLA as two different things, so they're both innovative.

If anything PC / Steam pushed online gaming so MS really deserves little to no credit there... sure they did some neat and not so neat things with it, but innovation is quite a stretch of the imagination... People saying MS for online sound like hipster lemmings.

The title says console market

This list is flawless

So if MS gets to claim online as a console innovation (was already on console and had been on PC for a while. Does that mean Sony gets to claim VR as a console innovation? And since VR was announced, and demo'd before the thread was created, do we get to include VR on consoles as one of the considerations for console innovation?

im going with MS, they really pushed online and made it a force for consoles. Unlike motion controls which lets be real fizzled out hard, even Ninty isnt really pushing it, its almost irrlevant. online gaming isnt.

if sony can get it too the market and make it sorta relevant I say yeah. online was on consoles prior to MS but they werent that big or relevant. Just like people dont want to give much credit to Sony for motion controls
