It's pretty much 4k dude. Ugh I guess you've never seen a 4k tv set with 4k uhd content at a tv store?

I forgt this is the 720p,900p,1080p crowd my bad...

I'm using a 4K monitor right now, the difference between those youtube videos at "original" resolution, and ACTUAL, locally running games in 4K, is night and day.

Well no crap why not try an 85 inch 4k... u complain too much. Monitors...ha!

Are you watching these on a 4K display? If not, there's really no point. You're just supersampling at this point. And any benefit of that is lost through Youtube anyways.

4K is pointless for console gaming since you are probably gaming on a couch 2-5 meters away versus PC where you game 0.5-1 meters away thus you can benefit from every pixel on screen. But it is a waste of money and resources... 1080p will satisfy us for 10-20 years to come.

Well yeah for consoles it's pointless right now. But I'm asking what are peoples thoughts on where this is heading in general. Do you like 4k res or should devs imho concentrate on game effects like more complex art/textures/fog/dof/physics and 720p and 1080p rather than push for 4k?

But it looks like most people just want to thread vomit. I'd rather the fx step up and 1080p be maximized for 5 years anyways but I think PC's will have to push both ends of the spectrum. Seems like PC will be the only graphically interesting platform in the next 2 years imho.

What is there to think about? Is 3840x2160 better than 1920x1080? Yes, it's 4 times higher.
Will modern games look 4 times better in 4K, ceteris paribus? No, it's hardly 2 times.

So, for now, 1080p is enough for consoles, especially considering that there is only one true 1080p console.

Considering the viewing distance, 1080p native ps4 kinda breaks barrier when viewer can't see defects of the picture without getting unreasonably close to it, ps4 is the one and only console so far that truly passed this barrier(that view applies to 95%+ of console gamers, especially since ~50% are still fine with 720p).

What difference would using a 85" 4K tv from a few meters away, or a 32" monitor from a few feet make?, you're still perceiving the same pixel density at the same cluster size.

But hey, lets pick apart your OP.

I was watching youtube videos using 4k pc for search in youtube. Watched Dark Souls, Titanfall, BF3, New Theif etc

Again, youre watching shitty compression videos, most likely on your not-4k monitor or tv, making the whole exercise pointless.

I think animation needs to step up A LOT, because 4k exposes the jerky movements and exacerbates this movement. Theif Reminds me of HL 1 movements lulz.

Animation is keyed to the framerate, each new frame shows a new frame of animation, this cannot be increased without increasing framerate, and would have little effect overall, the motion of said entities is entirely down to the game, and has no relation, at all, to the resolution the game is rendered in, if the animation was bad to begin with, its bad at any resolution.

My suggestion to you is stick to making threads on topics you understand.

Not really interested in 4k.

That's kinda my point the resolution excerbates the fact that phsyics in games looks more primitive, graphics in Titanfall take a step back and reveal the textures to be more flat in 4k imho than at XB1 native. 1080p will have to be ENOUGH on consoles, no shit they won't ever touch 4k this gen. You can see the difference in 4k from 1 foot to 50 feet sheesh you people need glasses.

4k is pointless to me, I don't even consider 1080p a big deal.

4K is a superior resolution! Is this any news to you ?
The difference that you get in a solid gameplay with a 4K resolution it's worth your money ? I don't think that, but if you have a good disposable income, go for it. It's not like someone will care what others experience, it's if you're enjoying your experience ~

In 10 years will probably be the norm of the day for gaming, or not. Nobody knows ~
