EA doesnt own the TitanFall IP, Respawn does. also, Titanfall wont stay MS exclusive, EA isnt that stupid. EA will put the second on PS4.

| binary solo said: Titanfall Sigma or Titanfall 2 Prologue I think EA figure that since MS dicked them around on DRM then they can dick MS around with Titanfall console exclusivity, so they are probably looking for a way to get the budding franchise onto PS as soon as the first wave of TF DLC has gone out. A Titanfall Sigma approach would be largely the same game with a few superficial tweaks to make it not exactly the same. A Titanfall 2 prologue approach would be different in campaign (possibly no campaign) but extremely similar multiplayer, with perhaps a new prototype Titan or some other new feature to giver it a sequel sort of vibe rather than just a port by another name. What do you reckon? Are we going to see Titanfall on PS platforms in some way shape or form before Titanfall 2? 50/50 chance of it happening I reckon, but I think it's highly likely that EA is thinking about something like a sigma or prologue option. But MS could make EA an offer it cant refuse for the publishing rights and that would be the end of it. |
EA will attempt to get Titanfall on PS, however, if they miss the hype window most PS fans will simply shrug and not care. Sort of like Mass Effect and Bioshock. For folks who only own one console, exclusivity kind of takes them out of the entire life of a franchise when they miss the first, because you cannot recreate the hype or interest, a year or more after the game came out (Think Uncharted, to a gamer who only owns an MS or Nintendo console). Sony will force EA to provide more content, because Sony can (even moreso now, because they are in the HW lead), and it's their way of giving EA/Respawn a nice liver shot, all while appearing to be protecting their consumer's interests heh. Worked great in the PS3/360 gen, that's for sure...though I'd still argue that Mass Effect and Bioshock sales suffered on the PS3 due to missing the initial launch craze.
Work on Titanfall 2, or Sigma or Alpha... any way, will take a lot to start.
Respawn is a small studio and they still have a lot to work to patch Titanfall and the work with DLCs...
Also, if a PS4 owner wants to play it, the minimum specs aren't too high on PC. Also its on 360. You guys have so many ways to play Titanfall if you wanted to :).

Why is there such an obsession among some PS fans when it comes to Titanfall? These threads are getting quite tiresome...

EA owns the publishing rights, and they can sell those rights on if they wish. Respawn could try to buy themselves out of being published by either EA or whomever EA sells the rights to. But they wouldn't because they can't offer EA anough money, and whoever would buy the publishing rights off EA would not then sell those rights to Respawn for less. |
You dont know the terms of the contract. They may only have the rights to the first game. It might also be a timed contract.

To get the Xbox 360 fans to upgrade to PS4 instead of X1.

Titanfall is literally in the subject of the thread. Why would you comment on a post whose subject you're tired of hearing about?
I think MS made sure to have a waterproof contract for Titanfall 1. They don't want this game on their main competitors consoles.
