Forums - Nintendo - UPDATE : US RELEASE CONFIRMED! One Piece announced for WiiU (and PS Vita/PS3)

So, what do make of this?

- Nintendo moneyhatted timed exclusivity for Red World on 3DS, likely to undermine PS3/Vita sales in the holiday period. Therefore, there might multiple cases of games ported to Vita in the future (Titan, Amazones...) and thus further advantage for Vita on 3rd party software front.
- Nintendo is starting to moneyhat Japanese devs to get ports for WiiU. It this case that opens the way for more Bamco games for U in the future (possibly Tales of Zestiria).

I somehow doubt it's the latter. It's likely more because Bamco knows that console games sell better in the West than in Japan, so if they want to invest in the game, they might as well put it on the console companion to the handheld (Nintendo probably does make it easier for companies to do that than it otherwise might be, but they're not directly paying for it).

I wouldn't say no to Nintendo moneyhatting a Tales Of port for the West, though. A few new Tales games wouldn't go amiss on my end.

I'm a huge OP fan and I read the manga every week but I really don't care about these warrior games they keep making. Either make a sensible 2D fighter or just stop altogether.

But this isnt a Warriors game, its slower paced and more boring then them =P

Really, if you want to play Tales of games, you know what console you need to get.  That's not going to change; especially after the whole of a start of a generation of faffing around with consoles that weren't PlayStation and, generally, underperforming in sales.

OT: This is the bizzarest of bizzare decisions.  Vita has much more traction in Japan than abroad; WiiU is lacking traction everywhere.  I suppose I can excuse PS3 due to there being One Piece fans there already thanks to Pirate Warriors, but I don't see why it needs to be ported away from 3DS.  3DS is selling fine everywhere.

It makes the decision to ignore the Vita version of Pirate Warriors 2 even more bizzare, too.  You're weird, Namco.  You're weird and I don't really like you very much.

"* Nintendo 3DSTM and PlayStation®Vita will feature local multiplayer gameplay for up to four players. Wii UTM and PlayStation®3 will feature split screen multiplayer gameplay for up to two players."

I hope your friends all have 3DS' :P

Oh, i know. My caring about Tales games is low enough that i don't really miss them (i'm a dirt-poor grad student anyway. I'm kind of grateful for Nintendo's somewhat poor lineup this year, as i'll still have the money to get everything important. If this were a more robust year like 2012 or 2010, i'd have to make some hard decisions), but it wouldn't hurt to have them either. Symphonia was fun.

Dangan Ronpa has trained me well.  I spotted the hidden contradiction in your statement there, you sneaky Wii-U owner you.

I always try to lure them over to the dark side (buy a Vita), but it is like talking to a brick wall ....

....on the other hand...man, those bright colours would look great on the Vita screen...
