It already has all the features, the PS4 just does them a little better due to stronger hardware, and will continue to do so until Microsoft releases a new console. It's just the way things are, in terms of graphical performance in games the PS4 will always have a leg up. Now, in non-gaming, the One wins hands down, but if you're just looking for a dedicated gaming console PS4 has the better value.

I totally agree, especially in the US

Maybe. However, I think many of these points are far more telling.

1. The Xbox One is getting outsold in NA
2. The Xbox One is getting outsold in UK
3. The Xbox One is getting outsold worldwide by the PS3.
4. The Xbox One is selling just a bit more than the Wii U WW.
5. The Xbox One had the quickest price cut in history.
6. The Xbox division is ran by some who wants to sell it.
7. The Xbox One is giving away their biggest game.
8. The Xbox One's biggest game is multiplatform.
9. The Xbox One is technically inferior to the PS4.
10. The Xbox One is more expensive than the PS4.
11. The Xbox One has inferior multiplats.
12. The Xbox One is still has Day 1 editions available.
13. The Xbox One has retailers creating their own incentives.
14. The Xbox One's flagship exclusive title is (mid) 2015.
15. The Xbox One has not backed up the cloud hype.
16. The Xbox One had/has 25% of the consoles on shelves.

I wonder what would happen if the tortoise and the hare quit competing and made sweet love.

I dont understand these threads. It is as if we are to assume the PS4 will receive no updates/improvements and has already reached its potential. The only way these threads work is if we assume the competition will remain at a standstill, granted Sony could fumble and MSFT acts quicker and creates a more compelling experience while sony remains content but obviously thats a strange assumption.

I have always said the X1 has the advantage in that there is perhaps more room for growth in terms of updates, optimizing for devs etc., and the gap isnt nearly as wide as it was for the PS3 to overcome but all of the mentioned variables in the OP assume the PS4 we know now will indeed be the PS4 we know in 2 years while the X1 will apparently be the only console evolving.

So we all know that ps4 is the more powerful system, and yes yes yes, we all know that it's selling ridiculously well. This isn't going to be a typical fanboy rant about how the xbox1 is better, or how ps4 sucks. I don't own either system, so I don't care. Everyone will tell you that I just watch anime and kpop videos and play mafia on vgc...I don't even play video games.

This is just a compilation of the things I've noticed.

1. DX12: PS4 already has Mantle(piecek) but dx12 is coming probably later this year and will put xb1 on par or better than the ps4 offerings.

2. Video-chat: MS has said that group chat will be on par with ps4 asap...I'm pretty sure it's already back after just 4 months on the shelf.

3. SDK: Lots of third party devs have said that once they get proper SDKs from Microsoft, there should be an improvement in game quality.

4. CableTv: MS is working out a deal so that all of the cable tv functionality that we have in the US, will finally be available worldwide

5. Cloud: MS is working on new ways to use the cloud to boost performance. This should help bring quality more in line with ps4.

6. Blacktusk: MS has almost finished filling out positions in its primary dev team. This will help turn out games.

7. Localization: While MS hasn't commented on it yet, I'm pretty sure the issues with software localization will be worked out soon.

8. World-wide release: MS doesn't have a schedule for WW release, possibly because of shortages, but ww release will help catch up sales.

9. System updates: Updates are coming out every couple weeks to get the features announced at launch onto the system.

10. Indie Dev: Indie dev coop is finally released as of last month, allowing indie devs to create content for the windows8/xb1 network.

11. Family Share: Family sharing is going to be released soon which will be a major game-breaker. Look it up.

12. eSRAM: major update coming out that will correct the eSRAM so that it works as intended releasing soon.

13. Bunduru's: Seems like every month has some new great bundle. I can't wait to see what bundles they have lined up!

I've got to say. With all these things on the horizon, it's hard to imagine what is stopping people from buying xb1 immediately.

Because a number of the things you quote is just not true of a real reason why people would buy...lol... is this one of those sarcastic threads to catch us out?

1. Absolute rubbish. This is pure PR stuff of dreams right now. Come back to me when it actually happens and suddenly the XBO is running at the same resolution and FPS.

3. SDK on Xbox improves, SDK on PS4 improves. Nothing to see here.

4. No one outside USA cares for Cable... not sure USA cares for another box ontop of cable yet.

5. Cloud.. another PR pipe dream. It couldnt handle TitanFall launch.. for something that has 3 servers per 1 Xbox... Will reserve judgement on this, but from a performance point of view, its *never* going to improve performance.

6. BlackTusk... call me when they have made something.

7. Localisation. Release in some countries that already have PS4 available. It's not what I would call a instant buy because of this.

8. If the small number of countries MS have released in is an indication of future sales in smaller countries, not sure its going to make a big difference. Rumour has it those that want it in europe are ordering it from neighbouring countries, not sure its going to catch up PS4 sales... as more will have a PS4 more friends are likely to buy PS4.

9. System updates though nice (and Sony need to talk about theirs), this does not on the whole sell more consoles.

10. It's great MS are finally getting on the indie wagon (though many seemed to deride Sony on its large amount of indie games on the internet)... not sure its going to make a massive difference when Sony is still seemingly got a better deal than MS in terms of looking after the indies.

11. Will hold judgment on this until we see it, at the moment its another one of those pipe dreams. Until we see it, it doesnt sell consoles.

12. Will always be the bottle neck. Sure developers will get better at handling it, but it will cause issues for a good few years imho.

13. Bundles are good, price cut is good. So will agree this is a positive. But as the PS4 is still cheaper and more powerful, its not yet a game changer for MS... they need to reduce the price worldwide (but they havent released in all countries yet...gah)... so its a difficult one. They need to drop kinect.

So no offence, but your list was rubbish :) - most of those things gamers on the whole dont give a rats ass about. The bundles is one thing I would say MS are working hard on and patches also... Sony have been ok on bundles (but not really a cost benefit) and they need to talk about Patches asap in my opinion.. not for new sales but to keep their purchasers happy. Suspect they are waiting for GDC.
