Forums - Gaming - oddly disappointed in the graphics of call of duty:ghosts

I played all of the other call of duty games and just bought the new one, because it was on sale. I expected some kind of graphical improvment in this game, but I was oddly disappointed. I got the ps4 version and the game looks just like all the last gen ones. I should'nt have expected to much from a cross-gen title. It's odd, because I normally don't care about graphics that much. the game is okay, just like all the other games. My formula is to race through the single player story and to play domination %90 of the time, because that's the easiest way to rise through the ranks. Any one else oddly disappointed bye graphics in a game?? food for thought.

Your main problem was expecting anything graphically from cod. Don't really remember a time when I was really disappointed in graphics on the top of my head.

Cod is not a graphical referent since Mw2, so I don't understand your surprise. Everyone knew the game would look mediocre even on next-gen.

Yea the graphics are horrible compared to other games on next-gen platforms.

Yeah when it actually worked on my PC I was disappointed. It's not worth reverting to older drivers for either. Unoptimised piece of shit.

Even on Wii U/360/PS3 its graphics fall noticeably short of the previous year's Black Ops 2 on those same systems, with inferior character models, lighting, textures, effects, and scope.

It looks "decent" on the PC on single player... but nowhere near what I expect from this next generation of games...And with all the hype about Titanfall... I'll point out that's another disappointment in graphics, along with Thief.

I am gonna tell you why:

1080p + blurry shitty FXAA has the same perceived image quality for many people than 720p + 2xMSAA (previous COD were using 2xMSAA).

It's simple, really, it's just about perceived resolution of texture. You take a 1080p texture, you blur the shit out of it with FXAA and it will give you (at best) a 720p perceived texture resolution.

The developers did admit recently that Ghosts was far from what they could have done.. They blamed it on releasing it and balancing it across so many platforms, and being their first COD on the new systems.
