evidently so.

Sony have been launching more new AAA IP's than nintendo do, every single year for well over a decade now.

edit: and when im buying uncharted, atleast I dont have to decide about picking between a red and blue version or X and Y, or whatever other bullshit they can think of.

The red version of Uncharted you play as Drake and the blue version you play as Sully. If you want to play as them both you need to find a friend who has the other version otherwise you miss out :(

And you're only allowed one save file. You want to share with a friend or play a different playthrough buy another copy.

So expansions are a good thing when Nintendo does them, but greedy when everyone else does it. Lots of double standards in this thread.

There are double standards all over the entire gaming internets, or hadn't you noticed?

If someone says "I only buy Sony consoles" or "I only buy MS consoles", very few people bat an eyelash. But whenever someone claims that they only buy Nintendo consoles, there is almost always, inevitibly some smart ass who pops in with the obligatory "have fun missing out on 3rd party games then" garbage. As if the Nintendo console preferring folks weren't already aware of how things usually are, or didn't already have their own reasons for preferring Nintendo systems.

It's almost as if, in a world where you'd assume most of us are grown adults, that somehow to some folks it's just not okay (see: not "cool") to just let someone prefer Ninty systems if they want to. Pretty silly, if you ask me.

I'm not buying another console unless it has "Nintendo" stamped on it.

I love the 3rd party games out there, but I won't buy another console to play them. Why? Fuck you, that's why.

Nintendo content is superb and well beyond the quality and games-craftsmanship of anyone else. I will always continue to buy their hardware so I can play their software.

3rd parties are largely about fucking the consumer and robbing us blind with a continued downward spiral of the valuation of our products. i.e. they keep offering you less and less while increasing the price, individuall and overall.

This DLC image above is a perfect example of what happens when you're only focus is on short-term gains. Nintendo doesn't do this and likely never will. Its anti-consumer and focuses on giving the consumer a lower end product while increasing the price. Additionally, it ruins the IP.

I also refuse to pay for online access. There is no reason for it. PC has lived for decades on free online play for its games AND the games tend to cost less. It is merely another way greedy corps are fucking us.

While the rest of you all have your lubed up asses, I'm sticking with Nintendo and its policy of hugs and high-fives.

So to 3rd parties (that don't put quality on Nintendo hardware) and MSony, I say rot in hell.

Don't stroke so fast, Nintendo is about to blow.

That don't impress me much.

You're not forced to support all third party games...you can choose to support games like Dark Souls, Tales of Xillia 2, inFamous SS, Witcher 3, Watch Dogs, etc which don't look like they are screwing over the consumer in any way.  You're making way too many generalizations.

So it's the whole nose/spiting face thing eh? Why not just save up and buy two consoles. One for third party, one for Nintendo?

I love you superchunck, you make me want a WiiU =D

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

But EA have not been doing it for 25 years and at least they do try something new every now and then.

You are kidding yourself if you think Nintendos IPs are even vaguely different. Get a platformer which isn't and IP that is 25 years old....oh, not possible. They sell more because owners have no choice! If you want a platformer, you better buy Mario or you get nothing.

Yeah because DKC doesn't exist and is as good or better than Mario (and both are better than any other platformer... with Rayman's last two being a close set).

Sure Nintendo doesn't make certain genres like FPS... but they offer continuous quality and new gameplay each and every time.

Just take 2D marios and you'll see that they are completly new games with each iteration. Offering new ways to play a similar core idea. New challenges, new suprises, and new gameplay. Just the core idea of primary characters and platforming is continued.

Its kinda the reason Mario has never died off where Mega Man, Sonic, have gone away.

Really, 2 IPs being 25 years old somehow trumpts the crap from EA?! Sorry, it really doesn't as...they're both 25 years old.

Their quality is subpar. The games are pretty bug free.....because they are so simple and old. They add no game changing mechnics whch are adopted by the genre or anything, hence why they have their niche little market and that is it.

At this rate though, Mario is dying off. Clearly few people are now interested in it.

Ok OP, sorry but I disagree with you because I support all talented devs out there, not just the ones working at Nintendo.

There are a lot of devs who do their research, who present to the industry and you can respect them and learn from them.  I never see Nintendo there at GDC showing and teaching how to make better games and satisfy their consumers.

Please search for "Nintendo" or "Wii" on the schedule here http://schedule.gdconf.com/list and tell me how much is Nintendo doing to support the game industry and their developers?  How are they showing how to be the best in class use of Wii U game pad, or optimize the PowerPC?  No, they have almost no presence, and you love them so.... much.

Presenters include 12 from Sony, 16 from Microsoft, 9 from EA, 23 from Ubisoft, 11 from AMD, 13 from nVidia, 20 from Google, and 2 from Nintendo... cause if you want people to develop for your platform then you plan 2 people for GDC to talk about Animal Crossing design.

But, I guess since everybody is already making the most out of the WIi U then there is nothing left for Nintendo to teach.
