Gamespot is right this time, Wii U succesor will be released late 2015 previous trends back their prediction, Nintendo can't support a failure for years the best is to cut loses and re-position itself.

At least what Soundwave said could be argued.  Unless you're joking, there's no way that would happen.  If it will be released late 2015, then that would mean Nintendo would have already finished designing their product around now and be using the remainder of 2014 and 2015 to both start development and manufacture many systems.  Also, doing this would very likely make them lose much more money than if they were to do it 2016.

Tag it, I stand by my 2015 prediction. Well see for sure in a year.

I wouldn't take any bets on 2016, but 2015 I would.  There isn't much logic to releasing a new console in 2015 that would replace the Wii U.

Never change, Sh1nn

How can he change? he is a robot created by Sony after all.

Nintendo and PC gamer

I think his argument is a bit of a stretch. The DS wasn't what you would call a "third pillar". Yes - it was an unconventional handheld - but it was intended to be the GBA's true successor and Nintendo largely moved their support to it from the GBA. A "third pillar" is a third product; something that is unique to and stands apart from a console and a handheld. The QoL product Nintendo mentioned is exactly that.

I'm not sure where Tom McShea got the idea that QoL would be the Wii U's successor, or even a video game device at all. Nintendo was kind of cryptic in their investor meeting, but I thought it would be pretty clear that QoL would exist alongside future consoles and handhelds and that they would continue to make consoles.

Exactly. They clearly mentioned that the QoL will be a seperate branch of Nintendo.

The health and wellness industry isn't exactly untapped fertile ground. There's a shitton of products and services in that market already, from companies who've specialized in it for years. It sounds to me like trading one oversaturated market (casual gaming) for another.

Given how next to none of the Wii Sports/Wii Fit crowd has shifted to the WiiU, in large part because of how unappealing and poorly marketed it is as a product, I don't have much confidence in this initiative right now. We'll need to see more about it before I'm convinced.

Also, I find it hilarious that so many people are going "tl:dr fuck Gamespot" given all the even worse hack articles and biased shit that gets threads on this site everyday. :p

Well I guess what they're thinking is that making a product dedicated to health and wellness is a much sounder approach than trying market it in the mantle of a video game console. They're segregating the part of their output that is strictly blue ocean (by gaming standards) and putting it in the market it belongs. If they can make a product that's unique and market it well while maintaining the same investment in game systems (which they've pretty much said they'd do), this will actually serve to increase the recognizability of NIntendo as a company and make them less dependent on video games to profit, allowing them to benefit in some regard from what Sony and Microsoft are able to.

I don't know, with all the announced delays, droughts and Smash going on 3DS too, I'd say they were very vocal when they killed the WiiU :P

That guy is purely speculating, no new facts to be found.

One thing is for sure, if Nintendo doesn't support the Wii U properly before killing it, I'm never buying another Nintendo console.

I'm not sure where he's getting his notions from. Nintendo made it quite clear that QoL is something separate from their games systems and that they will continue to make consoles. And they said that they're going to showcase new stuff for the Wii U at E3. They seem quite willing to support it; I see no reason, at least currently, to believe that NIntendo will kill offf the Wii U anytime soon.

good question.
What games will have after zelda U in 2015?

Whatever they do with the Wiiu after X is out I dont care would love to have a Zelda and Metroid etc but IF X will be as good or even better as Xenoblade then it was worth it.

And having a "rare" console (or in my case 2) and X (which will probably be bought twice) will result in me getting alot of Money in 10 or so years when I sell one WiiU+X bundle in mint condition on ebay :)
