One thing I'll say from the heart and then I gotta go for a few hours: I owned a Dreamcast and then I got a PS2. The PS2, we'll all agree, was a beast of a console. Some of the best darn gaming I'd ever and will ever experience. People bought that thing with "no games". So did I. It sold like crazy based on a promise. Did it deliver on that promise? Oh, hell yeah it did...but that first year, I'm not sure it deserved to sell as well as it did. Sure it was based on the success of the PS1 but for a year, the Dreamcast was (in my opinion) a much better experience. Unfortunately, the public had already spoken so the PS2 was set to dominate.
I see the same thing with the PS4. It will have its first great game sooner rather than later, if inFamous delivers. At the same time, I just don't feel like it deserves to be doing so much better than the competition. Did Microsoft and Nintendo make some mistakes? Yes. Even so, I think Sony has been given a free ride. It will definitely deliver and I don't regret owning a PS4 (though I haven't turned it on in like two days) but the reception it's getting? WTF? It's like I was in a trance and I HAD to have it. I HAD to play Tomb Raider in 1080p or download Resogun. Now that I have it, big whoop. I spent most of the night last night playing Tomb Raider on the PLAYSTATION 3 just to see if the jump from sub 720p to 1080 was worth it and, I have to say, the experience wasn't very different.
Playstation 4 had one. It's only been out for a few months but I'll make my crazy prediction. It won't even be close. I just think the battle should be a lot closer for a lot longer. In the meantime, I'll soon own every 8th gen console and I'll do what I've always done. Play games.
Play games and watch porn. Have fun.
