Most of the severs are in America or Europe. Does Microsoft have any severs in the whole African continant? This is a good move by EA. They are sparing South African gamers from a bad experience. I can't imagine playing with a high ping would any fun. They'd get massacred.

Many of them took part in the Beta, and as I stated above, they did have higher latency (between 100-200) they said it was most certainly playable and an absolute blast to boot.  From my experience, 200 is certainly pushing it, but between 100-150?  That should be fine, right?

100 to 150 seems bad, but I honestly could tell you. I don't play much Online. Why would EA cancel otherwise? I bet they would love to sell as many copies as possible, but any bad mouthing on the net could kill the Titanfall hype fast. I assure you there are people who would love to report Titanfall's lauch problems come March 11.

Hopefully, Microsoft will install sever farms worldwide as I would't count on EA. The added bonus of having Microsoft's worldwide servers available only to Xbox console could draw players away from PC to Xbox One. I hope this gets sorted by TItanfall 2.

Looks like you may have been right about that bad mouthing thing.  Apparently a small contingent of gamer's in SA filed a complaint under the Consumer Protection Act in SA:

"I refer to Consumer’s rights to safe, good quality goods, section 55 of the National Consumer Act. It is my understanding that consumers have the right to be informed of any diminished qualities a product may contain. In the case of this product, no local facilities are in place in order to support the play experience sufficiently…"

One question from me, a technical illiterate:

Can a person in SA still import the game (buy a code, get a disc) and be able to connect to the server, or does this mean that as soon as the server recognizes SA IP address, they get blocked off from playing?

Because if it's the latter, I'm afraid this might snowball into other countries. I know a few of my friends in Croatia (which is not, and never will be, officially supported by MS) are looking forward to playing, but this could mean that their potential bad connection might block them from gaming.

I asked Gavin on LG (he's the editor), he'll have an answer on that next week, is what he told me.  I'll send the info along when I hear back from him.

Thank you very much...

No problem at all!

I would say something about "EA, its a digital game you fucks, just let them play it digitally at least" until I realize that the latency will affect me when I buy the game and run into a person playing from SA so not the worst thing in the world loll

Nope the latency shouldn't effect you, in fact it will allow you to shit all over the SA player like a teleporting matrix ninja. By the time he realises that you are within shooting range of him, you would have closed in, snapped his neck, empty a catridge of bullet into his body and had enough time to defile his corpse and jizz all over his decomposing face.

You can buy an origin code for the game and that will work, however, the game isn't posted in the local Origin store so you have to find it elsewhere.  They're downloading it just fine though.

this is why there should have been a campaign and coop, that way a release could still happen whilst the fix servers

Just ran into this on another site I game on, apparently the beta gave EA the impression that Titanfall would be unplayable in SA (from the folks I know who were part of it, the latency was poor, but the game could still be played.  For example, they didn't speak of issues where people would disappear and reappear across the map etc...).

[...]

There are quite a few really disappointed people in SA who were seriously excited for TF.  Hopefully they can get their broadband infrastructure up to snuff and gain access to the experience.  Anyway, thought I'd share it with folks...no, this isn't a shit on TF thread.  I just felt bad for them.

Damn, South Africans should give up trade secret and tell EA they perform that disappearance and reappearance trick thanks to the countless holes they dug to mine gold and diamonds.
