Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I loved Extreme G. Should I get F-Zero GX?

I loved Extreme-G - but FZero (GC) blows it away.

Its just *very* hard - to the point where its almost harder to play on a big screen (the frame rate & speed is ridiculous!).

I so can't wait for a Wii version - with online play. I'd even be happy with Sega handled it (I played FZero GC recently on the Wii - holds up ok, wish it has 480p on the PAL versions...)

I know what you mean... it's almost too much to comprehend.

Hates Nomura.

Get F-Zero X on the VC too, although it's best if you have a classic controller for it if you are planning on using the attack buttons (shoulder).

And yeah dispite how it originally looks, GX doesn't seem that much faster than X

Okay, I just threw in the game for a quick GP and here are the results:

The game still looks great.

The sensation of speed was not as eye-splitting as I remember; I think this is due to the widescreen display opening the field of view (I'd only played on a 4:3 display previously).

The AI doesn't seem cheap, though that's hard to judge from just a few races at breakneck speeds.

Still awesome, definitely purchase-worthy.

@TWRoO:

F-Zero X is worth it just for Death Race. I sorely missed that mode in GX...

@goosegaws... those were my exact thoughts ... death race rules all (that's why I said classic controller is better than GC)

Also Silence is the best "boring" track ever.... the Casino palace one on GX was dull in comparison.
Oh, and Big Hand is a cool track too.

Silence is the only track in any racing game that I know of that has two long turns, but is completely straight.

I guess you are ignoring the death race track

Well then silence doesnt count because it has a corkscrew (2X half a corkscrew i suppose).... I say if you can get round it without turning it is a straight track.

I can understand not counting the death race track because it is not really part of the main game though.

Yes!

I was a big Ex-G fan on the N64 and would highly recommend FZero. While it lacks the weapons and detailed backdrops, the racers are blazing fast with superb control (well, some of them), and GX has a ton of depth as well. It was one of the GCN's undersold classics.

You'll have an eyegasm while playing F-Zero GX... the game literally FLIES across the screen... very well done all around.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.
