major nelson hasnt any power, he is just PR.

The fault lies with the suits who told the xbox division what the next xbox should be, and the requirements were an entertainment machine, Kinect, and gaming. Gaming wasn't its primary focus but rather one of the things the machine was supposed to do.

No, Mattrick was used as scapegoat, but he just was Ballmer's puppet.

Edit: his fault was to be incredibly clumsy in PR for bad ideas, but he wasn't their author.
