I agree... this trick is bad and I expected way more from GC but that's didn't change that 960x1080p is 1080p.

Yeah its not the end of the world, and like I said this is the first time I've ever gotten involved with "resolution-gate" in the first place. The reason I even got involved with this one is it was shocking to me that the game was technically sub 1080p since we all though it was and that we all thought FXAA was the source of blurriness.

Really, resolution-gate was mostly about multi-plats (at least for the gaming public at large), so this doesn't really change that.  As I said to Kowen, were they a little misleading?  Yea.  Was what they said still technically true?   Yes.  Now, if their deception bothers you enough to make the thread and continually post in it (not saying there's anything wrong with that if it does) then the mass deception MS pulled at E3 and on talk shows concerning the power of their console and what their games were going to look like should really piss you off.  Unfortunately, many chose to just ignore it like it was no big deal.

No Ethomaz. It isn't the same. Lie to yourself all you like... 960 isn't 1080

I work with that and even 1x1080p is 1080p.

"1080p is a set of HDTV high-definition video modes characterized by 1080 horizontal lines of vertical resolution and progressive scan"

1080p is defined by the vertical resolution one... you can say 1920x1080p is a standard in 1080p but even 1x1080p is 1080p even in a odd way.

Some people don't seem to get this (or they simply won't acknowledge it and abandon their argument) and unfortunately, you won't convince these people.

By their understanding, 1080p = 1920x1080 "Full HD" which would mean anything that isn't 1920x1080 native render isn't "1080p".

This is not the case, but... see statement 1.

whats the native resolution for ghosts?

It's 1920 x 1080 on the PS4 (2,073,600 pixels), 1280 x 720 on the X1 (921,600) and 880 x 720 on the WiiU (633,600).

I believe the PS3/360 versions are also about the same the WiiU version, but i vaguely recall the 360 version being sightly higher than the other two. Can't remember where i read that so may have just been dreaming it :P

PS3 Ghosts is 860x600, so 516,000 pixels.

360 Ghosts is 1024x600, so 614,400 pixels.

So PS4 > Xbone > Wii U > 360 > PS3 in terms of resolution.

I've heavily criticized MS about their original Xbox One plans. In fact I made a thread about it today.

Seems more like you were trying to lay the blame on Don Matrick, in my interpretation, anyway.  And where was the mention of their deception concerning graphics?

?

I've said in litteraly every single graphics thread there is that PS4 is more powerful and will be the best place to play multi plat games.  Its clear.  Frankly I really don't care about the whole console vs console stuff anymore now that I game on PC, frankly it seems silly.  That being said I didn't make this thread because Sony was dishonest, I made the thread because I was shocked the game was technically sub 1080p considering I was JUST talking about this last week, and how I thought that it was FXAA making the game appear blurry on textures.

Lol, it's cool.  I'm mostly busting your balls, anyway.  I know you're not really a fanatic.  What I find strange is how long it took people to figure out the display method they use for MP.  I figured they would have found that out the first time they did an analysis on the game.

To be honest it does show how good Guerilla was at hiding it. I usually find myself pretty good at spotting resolution differrences and even I didn't pick up on it.  I knew something was "off" but figured it was like I said a really bad usage of FXAA.

It's probably because most have become accustomed to measuring pixels by way of vertical resolution which is where stepping and aliasing are generally the most noticeable.

So what I want to know is, does it take more power to push 960 x 1080 over 792p?

Is it all about the pixel count or..........what?

^Yes that's me ripping it up in the GIF. :)
