XI and XIV did a lot of harm to the series, XV will destroy it.

FF was once my favorite video game series and now it is just another random stupid button mashing action game like Kingdom Hearts.

I really think Final Fantasy is a bit overrated. All of the main games I've played had great things about them, and then something absolutely terrible. And it's been that way as long as I've been playing them, which is all the way back with VII.

As a whole, compared to the other RPG series out there, they're actually pretty good. They certainly offer a lot of variety for being under one brand name. It's just that comes with being hit or miss, not bastions of awesome.

The problem since X has basically been that Square Enix doesn't know how to handle action in an RPG yet. XIII was an expensive learning process. Reading between the lines on XV's trailer, I think they're ditching Final Fantasy's "flash, then encounter" mechanic. The enemies are just too big and cause too much havoc for a separate battlefield to work. It would certainly wreck my immersion for all this chaos to happen, and then when you return to the world map everything's clean again. I bet when an encounter begins, a brief cutscene plays to set the stage. Especially if it's plot important.

At least I hope that's what they're doing. I bet there will be a mistake in the mix somewhere, but I'm willing to give it a chance.

SWIM.....because it's freaking Final Fantasy!

Swim: I love Final Fantasy, and the majority including the spin-offs are pretty good. The good thing about the series is that they change with every title unlike other companies who stick with the same formula.

From the last three main games: XII is amazing, XIV reboot is great and making SE a lot of money, and XIII is still better than 90% of those niche JRPGs....and even Ni No Kuni...*hides*

Swim. I played 5 good FF games before the XIII saga and on that merit alone I will give them one more chance. I will ignore all of their games where Lightning makes a cameo though. The character makes me sick at this point. Not because I dislike her as a person but for what she now represents to me. Sequelgeddon.

Final Fantasy isn't going anywhere.
