Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft says Xbox One price cuts are not out of desperation

It was a carefull analysis of how much they needed to cut to leverage sales... Not desperation, but not a show of confidence as well.

What's the price cut?

I checked online, the Titanfall bundle comes at a no cost extra here in Canada Think it's to encourage a little boost

Price cut is UK only. Was £429 now £399. (Will be £399 with Titanfall bundled as well)

The fact that  Microsoft says Xbox One price cuts are not out of desperation, means that it is out of desperation, simple as that.  of course this is not serious, and it's a finger in the a** for early adapters...  really a bad sign.

”Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

Harriet Tubman.

2 things:

Yes, the PS4 is completely shutting down the XBone. 2.5x a week what the XBone sells, and that's without Japan (a market the XBone is destined to fail in anyway, whenever it launches there).

Secondly, fans, journalists, etc need to stop latching on to "it's 'holding its own'". It sold 3M in 2013 alone". So? It hasn't done squat since. I remember how the PS3 was doing "bad" if it ever sold less than 100k in a week (back in like 2009. And the number was always around like 93k, but it was less than 100K, so it was "bad"). XBone is doing less than half that right now. Meanwhile, PS4 sold 4M in 2013 alone and has gone on, as gone on to sell another 1.7M (including last week's Japanese launch).

"Desperation" isn't the right word (that's reserved for when, say, the GC and XBox had official, across the board price drops just 6 months after launch), but something "not good" is going on with Microsoft

Haha.

Microsoft also said they can't just "flip the switch" and turn off DRM and always online.

The also said the ONE couldn't work without Kinect.

They don't really have a good history of being honest do they?

Kind off puts them in line with the "honesty" of every other company, wouldn´t you agree?

you people honestly think Microsoft would lie to their customers? Shame on you for thinking that way.

So, on the other hand, Sony making the PS4 cheaper and taking a loss was marketing genius?

It is desperation and it is an experiment. MS wants to test the market fast to evaluate if they should keep the XBox business or not.

Analysts and share holders are currently pressing the leadership of MS to get rid of Xbos.

I believe the price cut will have near zero effect, and that MS will soon decide to dump Xbox together with Nokia and the rest of their hardware devices.

Most likely a sell off will happen in 2014 while this generation still has some glimmer of hope for the Xbone console and the Xbox brand is still fairly strong. In 2015 when sales have slumped the Xbox business will be a much harder sell.

I do not see them dropping thier ties with Nokia but I can see them selling Xbox off.
