Forums - Sales - Wii U games showing good legs

Yeah! Go Wonderful 101! Even if it didn't make a lot of money, if it can at least sell enough copies that they think there's a big enough fanbase for it, it might get a sequel.

Well, there is also a point where loosing money becomes making money. So after that point it doesn't matter a whole lot the price of the game as long as the price covers the cost of the actual development of the medium and shipping. After that the rest is butter. I have no idea if W101 has reached that point or not, I doubt it, but it is possible I suppose.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

25k legs lol

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Its funny, because, if the statement is correct and the game will have legs, so no reasons to worry at all to delay the launch on it.

"Hey guys, we need to drop the work on some version now if we want to finish the others version at the time. Which one we should?"

"Well, on ps3, our games sell 80% * of it in the first 2 months, so not that one"

"Hey, on wiiu only 40% of the total sales* come from the first 2 months, so is not that big loss"

"Cool, so it's decided"

*Based on AC3 sales

Congrats zero, you finally discovered the real logic behind the decision of ubisoft :D

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

I agree. I honestly don't think it will make a profit on any of the new consoles, the bread and butter will come from the PS3 and the 360 sales. So my point is that if they are going to take a loss on each new console they might as well do it at the same time on each. They are setting the Wii U version up to fail no matter how you look at it. It is the least likely to succeed, sure, without doubt. There are still loads of people that are just refusing to purchase Ubisoft software because of the Rayman fiasco, but they aren't doing themselves any favors with this either.

You don't think the PS4 and XBO ports will be profitable?  Are you still sticking with less than 200k lifetime for them?  You have to paint with a pretty darn broad brush to put the Wii U's potential Watch Dogs sales even in the same ballpark as the PS4/XBO.

I really doubt the number of Wii U owners boycotting Ubisoft because of Rayman is signficant.  If the internet community was represenatative of the Wii U userbase at large, the numbers would be very different.

Okay. We have one instance of that so far with one game. I'm not sure we can spread that as a definite accross the board.

Assuming that youre talking about the 5x to 10x part...

Assassin's Creed 4 Wii U - 0.14 Million
Assassin's Creed 4 PS4 - 1.37 Million

Thats almost 10x

Call of Duty Ghosts Wii U - 0.13 Million
Call of Duty Ghosts PS4 - 1.85 Million

Thats closer to 15x than 10x

For a lot of the PS4s games, we simply cant compare. The likes of FIFA, Battlefield, Madden, NBA 2k14 and Need for Speed were totally missing on Wii U with new releases. Though we can compare to the Wii U versions of specific titles I suppose. Got to remember that the Wii U versions of these games have had way longer on the market than the PS4 counterparts.

FIFA 13 Wii U -  0.14 Million
FIFA 14 PS4 - 1.54 Million

Thats 11x

Madden 13 Wii U - 0.07 Million
Madden 25 PS4 - 0.55 Million

Thats almost 8x

NFS Most Wanted Wii U - 0.12 Million
NFS Rivals PS4 - 0.74 Million

Thats over 6x

NBA 2k13 Wii U - 0.04 Million
NBA 2k14 PS4 - 0.73 Million

Thats over 18x(!)

Would it be really surprising to see Watch_Dogs on PS4 (or Xbox One) utterly destroy the Wii U version?

horrible try. delaying the wii u version will make it's sales lower, with or without legs.

you can't compare fifa 12, madden 12 and  the 6 months late nfs late.

and FOR THE LAST TIME, it doesn't matter how much other versions sells in comparison. they are hindering the sales of a version they invested money in and staining their names even more with consumers.

Not really. Games don't usually triple their first 2 months of sales, ACIV will top out at 200k. Did we ever get 101 shipments???

Ubi are making the right decision with Watchdogs. It's their next 8m+ selling franchise (that's what they're hoping for) they shouldn't be worrying about a sku that is gonna sell 50k - 200k.

Nintendo consoles games do.

I'm starting to think Zero does these threads on purpose just to spice some people....at least I hope.

If that's true, he has very much succeded.

OT: If there are any legs at all it'll mostly be due to the drop in price from them not selling in the beginning or the fact that you are comparing these sales to sales of things from 2012, AKA when the Wii U released. Of course many things will be up when the Wii U gets a full year on market, it only makes sense.

Now, if the trend continues to be upward this year, then that's quite a good sign.

Man, I've read through the first couple of pages on this post, and it seems like some here come just to be mean to zero. The guy has a position on something, right or wrong, and some come in here stopping just short of calling him stupid. What is up with this? Why are some getting away with ripping this guy a new one for a thread? It's his position on the matter, it's fine to disagree, but some just get downright mean about it! It seems to me that there are some who dislike zero, and rip him for everything he says, and get away with it. Some here really should just back off a bit. Right or wrong, he doesn't need to be disrespected.
