Some of those learderboards are pretty weird. On 1-A, even though there was a 4 seconds difference from number 1 I was number 16, I was really really surprised haha

And on 1-1 with a 3 seconds difference (I think?) I was like number 130 xD

I see you are new to time attack. The first level/track in any game is always heavily contested, because that's where people start. But the closer you get to the backend of the game, the less competition there will be. A lot of players don't even bother to tackle the more difficult stuff.

So if you want to see your name in the top 10 of the leaderboards, play world 4 onwards. Aside from a few fanatics, you are only competing against less than stellar times.

That makes sense, didn't think about that tbh.

Were there leaderboards on Returns? I honestly don't remember, on that one I only cared about getting gold on each level (depending on my mood I sometimes went for shiny). I'm going for shiny on Tropical Freeze because, at least so far, getting normal gold seems to be easier than Returns.

Returns had no leaderboards. And yes, getting gold in Tropical Freeze is considerably easier. I am up to world 4 now and so far almost always got gold the first time I finished a level. But it's getting increasingly harder to get shiny gold, especially because there are once again a few levels that demand a strict rhythm; if you aren't at a certain spot after a certain time, it creates a domino effect; a lot of moving objects will be in an unfavorable spot once you get to them.

Those levels will take me a while to do correctly...if I spent 25 minutes on level 1-A trying to get shiny I can't imagine how long those later ones will take me...knowing me, I will get lazy half-way throw the game as just go with normal gold.

I'm going at a snail's pace now because of my job...I hope I can finish all world 3 time attacks by Sunday, might skip the bosses because I hate doing time attacks on those, now even more because they are longer than Returns.

It took me over an hour, maybe two, to get shiny gold on 2-1, but it also took me about an hour to get gold on 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 2-2. Maybe I just suck.

@Rol

How did you get a time like that for the first boss? I could only barely get gold.

1-1

I still don't know how to do the second plug faster (like the guys at the leader board) and I messed up the end...
