The videogame industry is so doomed... my god...

This is exactly what I got from reading this. Even if I owned a PS4, I'd be upset by this. It's not that the PS4 and 3DS are winning; everything else is just losing, badly. Ugh. This is seriously not good for the industry. These are PS2/Xbox/Gamecube numbers, only this time everybody is selling at a loss.

PS4 adjusted up another 2k in Europe.

There is litterally no hardware number that impresses except for 3DS in Japan. PS3 sales are holding up OK all things considered, but not exactly impressive. As I said before 7th gen consoles are in their final full year, 2015 discontinuation across the board for 7th gen.

Unless PS4 proves to be undertracked (where's the evidence for that?) then PS4 will struggle to stay above 100k going through the May-August slow down. This seems to be the start of the proof that gen 8 will be a large shrink compared to gen 7 despite the record breaking launch period for PS4, and of course Xb one selling more consoles in its launch period than either of the previous Xboxes.

Reasonable start for Lightning returns, given it's the 3rd entry in a FF world that's received little praise or love. But a rather surprising hardware bump in USA from FFXIILR for both consoles.

The numbers are not as bad as some would like you to think. The industry was bloated last time and now we're back to the 5th or 6th generation level of sales. And at the end it doesn't matter how much a console sells, as long as the manufacturer makes a profit. If the market has no place anymore for a 100mio selling console, then so be it.

And 3DS is criminally overtracked. Last month it failed to sell more than 100k in the US and now we're supposed to belive it sold almost half that amount in 1 week!! Rright...

With the little diference that NOW a company needs 10x times the money and time to make a game.

Interesting to see the Xbone going to the WiiU level for a system thats just been released its not looking good.

Japan should definitely save the XBO, fear not folks.

Why is there such a gap between the PS4 and 3DS? I thought they were much closer than that.

Now, we wait for tons of Xbox One doom articles.

Nah whole industry doom threads because the PS4 is apparently doing terrible compared with the Wii first year.

OT: Pretty bad sales since all the companies refused to price drop anything. Wii U $300 seems too much but is fine until it gets more SW. PS3 and 360 $200+ is too much with many SKUs over half the price of PS3. Vita $200 is too much when you have to buy memory cards.

FFXIII probably overtracked as it is a JRPG, but sold more then I expected.

But the list of launches someone put here indicates that PS4 had a monstrously better launch than the Wii or PS2.  How much worse could it be doing so soon after launch when demand is still running it out of stock?  People are just screaming "industry dying" without citing anything...

Idk man and also PS4 is supply constrained, probably more then the Wii was. But PS4 is doomed apparently.
