So it happens. The details aren't important, but by the end of this year Microsoft has concluded the future of the console market isn't worth its time. It still wants a presence - especially in online and OS areas - so it sells the XBox division to Nintendo in exchange for a 10% stake in the new company, cash and a deal to sell OS and other servies for present and future machines. Nintendo immediately works with the former XBox division to combine resources and hardware, and a new XBox SKU is created in time for Christmas 2015.
The NBox is created. It features the basic arcitechture of the XBox One, but made more efficient and given new styling. Kinnect is dropped. The controller is a XBox/Gamepad hybrid, mostly XBox but with a small touch screen for menus or dual screen play. The NBox plays both ONe and Wii U titles. It has full Live support. It has full 3rd party support. Former MS Game Studios join Nintendo. Live Arcade, eShop and Virtual Console games are all available under one shop. Launch titles include Halo 5 and Zelda U, plus all existing titles for its parent systems. It sells for $349.
Is this a dream come true?
