Each game in the series is essentially the same game, just slightly improved from the last.

By that logic Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, Madden, FIFA, Uncharted, Halo, Zelda, and many other series would all sell poorly.

Well, by "slightly improved", I meant barely improved to the point where it is not worth purchasing.

In that case I would take GTA/Halo/Uncharted/Zelda off my list but keep COD/Creed/Madden/FIFA. Those games certainly do not add much from year to year.

But anywho DKC is certainly worth a purchase, maybe not a console pusher but the game will go on to sell well, im guessing 2-3 million lifetime even If Wii U only sells 12-15 million lifetime. First week sales of a single country are not enough to determine whether or not a game is a success.

It just looked like another boring platformer honestly. It reminds me of the New Super Mario Bros. games. Each game in the series is essentially the same game, just slightly improved from the last. Seemed very uninspired and not worth purchasing, even on a console that is already struggling with a lack of quality software.

Apropos of nothing, I glanced at your avatar and laughed.

Improvements aren't the only reason why a sequel is bought ya know. New levels, characters, story, mechanics, and so ons are also things.

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze was just a beefed up DKCR. The graphics are hardly worthy of the HD name. It is the same mechanics and it is trying to sell when that's not what Nintendo needs. They need Mario Kart and Smash Bros. and Zelda but to be honest, I don't think even those games will save the Wii U. This'll be another PS2/Xbox/GCN type scenario where surprisingly the Wii U might outsell the Xbone. Then Nintendo will get mad and unleash their fury next generation. The 3DS will carry Nintendo though these tough times.

Im not understanding why people believe DKCTF will move consoles. Dont the platform lovers already have a Wii U because of the Mario games? Would DKC fans really be a different crowd from the platforming Mario fans?

Good for you.

Top 10 Games of All Time

1. The Last of Us, 2. Journey, 3. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, 4. Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, 5. Bioshock Infinite, 6. Zelda: Twilight Princess, 7. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, 8. Super Smash Bros. Brawl, 9. Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword, 10. Starcraft

Add me on PSN. Thanks.

It's a much better game than NSMBU ... NSMBU wasn't even that bad, the presentation was just bland.

DKC: TF has really nice graphics (mmm, never want to play Nintendo games in SD again) and an incredible soundtrack for starters.

The game is hard though. Stay away if you can't handle dying.

Just release a 250$ wiiU mk8 bundle. I never expected DK to move consoles, but MK might if it comes with a wiiu price drop.

I tell you..."fanaticism" should be a medical condition... :-/

I looked at the headline for the poll, "DKC is a mainstream game". This is utterly ridiculous. I think fans (& Nintendo) needs to take a SERIOUS evaluation at their place at the home console table, and WHY they're losing their seat. "Mainstream" doesn't buy a $300+ system for a niche genre (which platformers also has a stigma of being cheap) filled with characters that have been spammed for over 2.5 decades! An HONEST assessment and vision of the marketplace is what's needed. And that, I might add, usually comes from FIRING. By them NOT firing, Nintendo is saying they will keep doing more of the same. And that's fine. But that's not "mainstream". And won't bring mainstream sales. Bayonetta 2, Monster Hunter, and X are BABYSTEPS in the right direction, but ultimately...there's a PERCEPTION problem in the House of Nintendo, and it's fans, apparently...

EDIT: It doesn't matter if it's DKC, Mario Kart 8, another Kirby game, or making JackEFFinBlack a hidden character in Smash Brothers.  A culture change is what's needed...
