Ive still had games with players lagging, there is no magic fix to see here, people with bad connections will still have bad lag.

They also want to stop shouting about how all the AI is done server side, cos they AI is moronic.

But the game is still really fun!

I have a ping of 11 (US EST) and while some players are lagging, at least the connection to the server is always good. I actually really like this and see a difference between Titanfall and COD.

AI being done on the server side saves up CPU and require less bandwith, so it is still good :) (even if they are really dumb, but this has nothing to do with dedicated servers or even the bandwith)

But its dedicated servers so AI was always going to be done on the server, this is no differnt to how any games in the past work, the HOST always does the AI and if that host is a dedicated server then its a server. Its nothing new or special and should not be shouted about especially when its so dumb.

I dont think you get it.  COD is PEER hosted.  Makes everything wonky, and introduces a struggle to compensate everyone fairly across the board, including the host.  I remember in MW2 i would DOMINATE as host.  No so much anymore, its a crap shoot.

Dedicated servers are LONG overdue from the stingy bastards at Activision.  I don't really blame them though, people are sometimes oblivious to getting rubber banded, instakilled, toe sprayed, etc.  It's maddening to me, and it sounds as if Titanfall has resolved some of that for low ping players.

This IS A BIG DEAL, because hopefully other companies, expecially ones raking in the cash from their franchises, follow suit.

i totally get it

But the BIG DEAL is Dedicated servers, NOT Host AI. AI has always happened on the HOST Didicated server or not dedicated server.

Also dedicated server just remove host advantage and on average should improve pings as your not relying on some random persons upload speed. But if you still live somewhere remote and your pings still shit, it wont feel any different.

Agree on host AI.

One thing to add though, with dedicated servers you don't need lag compensation that throttles back low ping players.  That's just BS.

But the PC version runs through Origin, no XBL or Games for Windows. So who's paying?

Why doesn't the 360 version get them?

The Front end is Origin but the backend is Azure.  Its no different then how EA servers work with XBL for the 360 games, just vice versa.
Edit:  Not sure why the 360 is not getting the service but then again its just could be that XBL on the 360 is not compatible.  Different Network, or MS just want to give the incentive to go X1 over the 360, who really knows.

Okay, I just don't understand why M$ would offer equivalent servers on PC and Xbone? Does this mean EA are paying for it

I would add that Azure spins up a server and add LPB to that server.  Its different then EA just having a bunch of dedicated servers you can connect to.  Everything is done behind the scenes so match making is seamless.  No hunting for LP servers.  Also this should help alot for everyone in the world that has a X1 or PC as everyone should have LP to a match.

My ping is 33 and I have a full-bars connection on screen. Things seem buttery smooth to me. What I DON'T have, however, is very good ability to kill everyone in the game. I love playing it but I am not an FPS god by any stretch.

Haha what people don't seem to understand is that the 'crappy AI' opens this game up to a lot of people who might be considered 'teh casuals.' I didn't understand how many of the opposing forces were AI grunts when I first started playing... the first match I shot the shit out of so many people and I said to my wife 'WTF?! I don't understand it! I am a god in this game!' and then I realized I hadn't killed any actual pilots, I had just killed tons of grunts.

Hahaha I felt so silly.

I believe Respawn is paying the cost not EA.  During an interview a while ago, Respawn mentioned the reason they went with MS is that the offered affordable dedicated servers where a small studio like theirs could afford.  This is the reason that the PC and X1 are using MS Azure platform because Respawn is making those versions.  EA is doing the 360 port so who knows what that will use.  Probably EA servers.

And other games did it before without anybody noticing (I'm thinking of LoL right now, but there should be others) or bragging about it.

(BTW best AI i ever seen on a game is Creatures, and it has no online support (90's power) )

So on PC. You buy the game for cheaper and get free dedicated servers

On Xbox. You buy a more expensive game and then have to pay M$ for the servers

I just don't see why Respawn would pay

I do not remember anyone bragging about running the AI on the server.  It was pretty common sense to do it that way since the game is using dedicated servers. Really, this has nothing to do with what has been done before because there is very little new, its about making it a standard for all MP games on consoles.  Preople really miss this point alot.

As a gamer you get free dedicated servers no matter what Respawn is paying or what platform you play the game on.  Since MS is not giving out cost who knows how much Respawn is paying but from their month it must be affordable.
