Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What if Nintendo acquires a lot of dev teams.?

Nintendo should have bought THQ.

I mean just think about Saints Row with Nintendo stuff in in? OMG.
Eat mushrooms to get bigger.
Drive karts around the city.
Ride on yoshi eat people and turn them into eggs.
"Warp pipe" around the city.
Fire flower weapons.
Tanooki Suit
Mario themed clothing store

And all of this just when you think about mario Add Zelda DonkeyKong Metroid Starfox FZero Pokemon etc OMG BEST GAME EVER.

Super Smash Row!

I am still sad it didnt happen.......

TBH I would buy Sega to secure all the Atlus stuff. Having Yakuza Sonic and all the other Sega stuff also would not hurt.
Also BandaiNamco  because of the Tales series etc. (and Tecmo because of the boobies xD)

Nintendo should buy 51% of Capcom.

Capcom IPs now become Nintendo IPs.

I masturbate furiously to this thought.

I predict a lot of Sony/MS fans coming in here and derailing the thread with massive flaming and trolling...

OT: for that scenario to work, Nintendo would indeed have to greatly diversify its output of games. More genres and more different franchises. Not just 2D Mario/3D Mario/Mario Kart/smash Bros./Zelda/Donkey Kong/Kirby.

A third-person shooter Kid Icarus would be neat, as would a new 1st person Metroid adventure.
Waverace, Excite Bike/Truck and 1080 Snowboarding could be brought back from the dead, perhaps combined into a racing game compilation. Starfox is due a new outing, but it would need to remain a vehicle-based shooter.

Endless Ocean 3. It just makes too much sense.

Advance Wars & Fire Emblem would both work perfectly with the GamePad's touchscreen. Pokemon Snap would be awesome with the GamePad, too. It's practically made for this; just look at those 360 degree videos on the e-Shop and Google Streetview on Wii U.

Looking at the tons and tons of fantastic art on Miiverse, Nintendo ought to really push that creative drawing aspect of the GamePad, it already works very well with Art Academy - make that into something greatly full-fledged.

Make the big 3D Mario adventure the fans want.

Besides all that, get some teams dedicated to continually port retro games (mostly GameCube and Wii ones, but N64 games could work too) to Wii U. Full 1080p HD, save states, new Wiimote and GamePad-enhanced controls, online functionality where it makes sense... the works.

As a bonus, finally, Tingle RPG 3 on Wii U.

At least the thread would remain on Forum Hot Topics and more people would discuss this...

Hm. Yeah. Kinda quiet. Too quiet. Must be a trap!

I swear if I see another "What if Nintendo..." thread, I'm going to kill myself.

Never thought of that.

Who needs porn after reading this?!

Anyways imagine top-notch quality RE games, Megaman properly revived with high quality games that blows everyone out of their minds. Not Dead Rising this gen because it would be hated due to it being a downgrade in comparison to DR3 (Dead Rising is one of the few series I know that actually require lots of power to exist, rather than just benefiting graphically from it). This would allow increasing SSB5 roster considerably! Newcomers from actual fighting games would be a great addition; Street Fighter characters in Smash Bros would be "holy nuts epic "crazy!

F**k the 51%, BUY THE 100%!

I thought of this once upon a time, but came up with some major problems. 1. a company with too many dev teams tends to have problems producing enough "hits" to justify having them all and eventually closes studios down. Devs have seen this and I think are reluctant to be part of such a deal. 2. Again, without being able to guarantee all your games are going to be "hits" then the financial burden of not seeing a return for all these self funded games becomes quite heavy. I think Nintendo's best bet is already in the works. They're next platforms (PLURAl), both handheld and home, are going to have dual development schedules. They're going to maximize the efficiency of their dev teams by making it possible to develop single games for both of their platforms.
As it stands now, the majority of their games are either produced for the 3ds or the wii-u. Now imagine that last years game drought on the wii-u was quenched with games like luigi's mansion, kid Icarus, and pokemon x&y.
Now for the expected retort "why would Nintendo create a competition between it's two platforms? won't that hurt it's cumulative sales?" And while I believe the short answer is yes there is one variable that I think is going to make a big difference in this strategy; demographics.
i'm not talking the usual age, region, gender. I mean philosophical consumer demographics. I would go into it further, but this post is already a bit lengthy. I will say one thing real quick though. I think you're onto something about them having powerful machines next gen. Not so much the home console, but I think the handheld is going to have to be able to keep up with the home console, and that might be asking quite a bit from a handheld. Then again, the vita is doing fairly well with it.

Then in 2 years time the WiiU would be flooded with games.

If that happened, no one would ever dare say "Wii U got no games."

They would, just to piss off the fanboys lol

I think they need to just focus at one platform at a time. Buying new teams means bigger losts and would need many developers to make up the drought. Not worth it.
