Look, if the Wii U was at par with X1 then it was would get ports similar to X1. Instead Wii U gets 7th gen ports. |
It isn't on par, of course. We know Wii U is considerably weaker than the other 2. But the diffference is not even close to the Wii vs. PS360 situation. Wii U could handle ports of any current PS4/One game, only with considerably worse graphics. Last gen ports aren't Wii U exclusive, like we had Tomb Raider and Injustice on PS4/One. The reason Wii U don't get ports is related to its sales and not to its power.

I'm impressed with that. People want to make everyone believe that a 900p game with bad framerate looks good. Honestly, if it was to keep playing games at less than 1080p, I would keep my PS3. Cheaper and a lot of games.

No way, look at the comparison video walsufnir posted. Wii U looks last gen.

But you'll still play The Order 1886 with black bars right? Or is it a different situation because its on PS4?

"a little better"
Are you serious?
1920×1080 pixels = 2.073.600 pixels
1280x720 pixels = 921.600 pixels
That means 125% more data to process on the PS4 or when the different is 30FPS vs 60FPS is 100% faster processing, so being twice more at any of those it not "a little better", so it makes sense for some people to wonder.
dd if = /dev/brain | tail -f | grep games | nc -lnvvp 80
Hey Listen!

Not only the X1 version look better, it does it at a much more stable 30 fps and 900p.
What a silly discussion.

1920x800 with black bars still is better than 1440x900 since it's running at native resolution in 1080p screens . Problem with lower resolutions aren't the quality itself, it's the upscalling and interpolation blurrying everything. I wouldn't be half as mad with 720p if my TV was 720p. Now, on a 1080p set, interpolation destroys image. Even with black bars, the order is running in native resolution on the TV and won't suffer with upscalling issues. Ready At Dawn already confirmed that the doubt currently is 1080p without black bars and 2xMSAA or 1080p with black bars and 4xMSAA. I prefer the first option, I don't care for the extra antialiasing.
About being a different situation because it's on PS4, it isn't. BF4 is 900p and I will say it now: it is a lame effort from DICE and that resolution is a joke. Would I play it? No, but because it's a terrible game and not because of its resolution. My critic about resolution is that I want a next gen console that does 1080p. 720p games were the norm with PS360 and I know how they look. Most PC ports are just console games in 1080p and that already helps a lot in visual department. Next gen is starting now and 1080p has to be king. I want that resolution, it's the bare minimum for a nex gen right now.

And AC is a last gen port. It isn't a showcase of what the hardware can really do, or the PS4/One version would have a much bigger gap in relation to the Wii U one. They just got a PS360 game, improved a little bit and released in next gen consoles.
I'm not saying they were lame or anything, but it's about development time. Internal studios at Sony and MS had precise info and dev kits much earlier. 3rd parties got it to late to develop games specifically for new generation devices, so they had to just port the PC version and call it a day.

Who cares if X1 games have vastly superior graphics and frame rates than 7th gen games. Clearly all that is moot unless its running at 1080p.
BF4 on 7th gen is the exact same experience as the X1 version.

Haters will deny but it is...
Of course it is more powerful than Wii U but the gap is widen between PS4 and Xbone than Xbone and Wii U. The multiplatform games will show even a widen gap in the next years when the PS4 started to optimized. Xbone will start to be optimized too but the limit is far bigger on PS4 than Xbone.
Anybody that knows a little about GPU, memory system and virtualization will say the same to you.
BTE I didn't expect a gap like MGS too soon with PS4 having smooth framerate than Xbone... maybe the gap in power is even big than I think.
