Dat 1st gen. Between the original GB games and the awesome original run of the cartoon show, there's no way you can top it.

That show was never as good as some people want to remember it being. It was atrocious from the start, and has barely improved over time. At least the animation looks half decent now.
1. Gold/Silver/Crystal
2. Red/Blue/Green/Yellow
3. X/Y
4. Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald
Never played any of the other generations. Generation 3 is still godlike though, which goes to show how well the series has held up.
