Sony needs your money.
Go watch it.

I'll give it a shot, but the original Robocop was pretty tight, I won't go see it in a theater though. |
The Judge Dredd remake was/is awsome. Great movie.

Aye, agreed. Absolutely worth watching and it was kind of interesting that it's plot was very very similar to The Raid: Redemption (both were good for different reasons though).

A car bomb which blows up in his face only leaving his face perfectly unscared. Really if you love the old you will hate the remake. |
That was shown in like the first trailer, I think. What I want to know is why he has a human hand. Seems like it would be a weakness. If he had to lift a car or something wouldn't the human hand just break off? Probably still good for spanking it, though....

indeed!! The only thing I hated was the helmet :P

It's an 'okay' movie in it's own right, but as a reboot to one of the classic over-the-top violent action movies of the late 80's it falls short. Peter Weller played it with much more tortured soul and inner conflict of "am I man or machine" that the current actor does. Much of the violence is also waaay turned down due to PG-13 (USA) rating.
As others have stated here, last year's Judge Dredd reboot was done much better. A big improvement of the Stallone cheese-fest (entertaining as it was...)

Oh I know, even though from pretty much every angle the original Dredd was abhorrent, it basically made it absolutely hilarious. Not to mention the 'Who can overact the most' competition between Stallone and Assante hah. The new one was far better in all categories, and even gets bonus marks in the 'No Rob Schneider' category.
But, Robocop really didn't have those issues, from the first time I heard of the reboot, I simply didn't view it as having the same kinds of holes as Judge Dredd.

You have good tastes in movies man. Oh BTW they are making a sequel to The Raid: Redemption
@D21Lewis
There is a reason for the human hand.They are trying to avoid the suicide problem from Robocop 2

Oh yeah, I saw the news about Berandal (The Raid 2) months ago, the Red Band trailer looks freakin fantastic. Always love movies that give you basically a clinic on a martial arts form we're not overly familiar with (Pencak Silat, in this case). Probably would never have known about it, had I not watched that rather entertaining Fight Quest, reality show. Sort of like Tony Jaa did with Muay Thai/Boran, except the star in The Raid (Iko Uwais) is actually a world class martial arts champion, and Jaa is more like Jackie Chan...nothing against either of them, but they mainly trained as stunt actors and then filled out their abilities by studying specific forms for a few years.

After the original movies massacre of Alex Murphy he also had a human hand, it had survived the shooting and it was only when the OCP guys had him on a slab you hear the fact that they can save his hand an overseer is heart mulling over it and says "naw lose the hand" so I guess it was them trying to be similar to the original but put a slight spin on it... the fact that it was not his gun firing hand tho made it a completely moot point imo.
